PB SEMMI: Treason Issues on Social Media Risk Triggering Instability

The INDONESIAN, (Jakarta)— The General Deputy Chairman of the Central Board of the Indonesian Muslim Students Association (PB SEMMI), Sandri Rumanama, views the emergence of issues regarding treason and attempts to topple President Prabowo Subianto on social media as a deliberately constructed narrative.

The goal is to shape public opinion filled with hatred and trigger national instability leading up to mid-2026.

According to Sandri, the spread of these issues appears to follow a systematic pattern involving certain activists, students, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to create conditions that potentially lead to political chaos.

“Activists, students, and several NGOs seem to be creating conditions to trigger disorder. Efforts to delegitimize a legitimate government are unconstitutional acts, and we will oppose them,” Sandri told reporters in Jakarta on Wednesday (4/8/2026).

He emphasized that all elements of the nation should unite and provide full support to the government in facing increasingly complex national and global challenges.

According to him, the administration under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto is currently working hard to implement various strategic agendas to strengthen the foundation of the national economy.

Sandri also noted that the government continues to strive to present pro-people policies, including maintaining food security, boosting investment, and driving development in various strategic sectors.

“The President is working hard to address various issues and the dynamic global political landscape. We should be giving full support, instead of creating political noise that will ultimately harm the people,” he stated.

Furthermore, Sandri called on the younger generation, particularly students, to maintain critical thinking while prioritizing the spirit of unity and making positive contributions to the nation.

He stated that students have a strategic role as agents of change who can provide constructive ideas for national development, rather than being trapped in provocative narratives that risk dividing society.

“Students must be the moral and intellectual force driving the nation’s progress. Criticism is certainly important in a democracy, but it must be delivered constructively while maintaining national stability and unity,” he asserted.

He also hopes that all elements of society can work together to maintain a conducive situation so that the government can focus on its development agenda and face global challenges for the benefit of the Indonesian people.
