The INDONESIAN (JAKARTA)– The Central Board (PP) of Perisai Syarikat Islam has stated its full support for the Indonesian National Police (Polri) to remain directly under the oversight of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
M. Nur, Secretary-General of Perisai Syarikat Islam’s Central Board, said that Polri’s position under the President serves as a crucial foundation for maintaining national stability, upholding the supremacy of law, and ensuring coordination among state institutions.
“We view that Polri being placed under the President of Indonesia is a constitutional and legal mandate that must be collectively upheld. This is essential to guarantee security stability, public order, and effective law enforcement amid the current national dynamics,” M. Nur emphasized.
Perisai Syarikat Islam also called on all elements of society, including students and community organizations, to maintain social stability and avoid speculation or narratives that could undermine public trust in the police institution.
“We urge all members of society to act wisely and refrain from forming speculative opinions that may weaken Polri as a state institution. Social stability is a shared responsibility,” he added.
Furthermore, M. Nur – who also serves as Head of the Syarikat Islam Affiliated Organizations Division at the Central Executive Board (DPP) of Syarikat Islam – specifically urged all affiliated Syarikat Islam organizations across regions to remain united and consistently support the legal mandate, to ensure Polri stays under the direct oversight of Indonesia’s President.
“I call on all Syarikat Islam affiliated organizations to stand united, fully support the legal mandate, and preserve Polri’s dignity as a professional, precise state institution oriented toward the people’s interests,” he stated.
Perisai Syarikat Islam reaffirmed its commitment to actively contribute to safeguarding national unity, strengthening security stability, and supporting the legitimate government to achieve a safe, just, and lawful Indonesia.
