The INDONESIAN , (PASURUAN) — Majelis Adat Indonesia (MAI) Pasuruan Raya continues to strengthen bonds of fellowship and embrace cultural practitioners as part of safeguarding identity, noble values, and the dignity of adat and culture amid changing times.

This spirit was evident in a gathering of Pasuruan Raya cultural figures held on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at Zamiyah Panglereman, Mancilan Village, Pasuruan.

The event unfolded in a warm spirit of togetherness and opened with tembang Macapat — a traditional Javanese poetic song form — as a tribute to the artistic and cultural heritage of the archipelago.

The gathering served as a space for fellowship, dialogue, and consolidation among cultural activists, adat leaders, organizations, and communities committed to sustaining cultural life across Pasuruan Raya.

YM Hari Joko Setyon, S.H., Custodian of Adat Trust for MAI Pasuruan Raya, emphasized that the initiative embodies MAI’s vision and mission to build unity and bring together all elements of adat communities and cultural practitioners.

“Essentially, MAI Pasuruan Raya has embraced all cultural practitioners across the region. This aligns with MAI’s vision: that adat and culture become a unifying force, not a dividing one,” YM Hari Joko stated.

He noted that cultural practitioners are vital guardians of ancestral heritage. Their role extends beyond preserving tradition — they bear the responsibility of ensuring noble cultural values remain alive and relevant to younger generations.

Culture, he asserted, must not remain confined to ceremonies or performances. It should permeate daily life through ethics, mutual cooperation, communal solidarity, respect for elders and ancestors, environmental stewardship, and love for the nation and homeland.

MAI Pasuruan Raya views technological progress and global cultural currents as both challenge and opportunity. Cultural revitalization must therefore be open, creative, and capable of reaching youth.

Future generations need space to know, understand, and develop culture without losing their roots.

“Our goal is not merely for culture to survive — but for it to live. Young people must know their cultural roots, understand their noble values, and carry them forward in a changing world,” he affirmed.

Within this framework, MAI Pasuruan Raya encourages cultural practitioners not to work in isolation. Communication and collaboration across communities, organizations, adat leaders, public figures, and youth must be continuously strengthened.

MAI regards Pasuruan Raya’s rich diversity of traditions and cultural expressions as a social asset and cultural capital for the people.

Adat and culture are not exclusive domains, but rather spaces to deepen brotherhood, cooperation, tolerance, and unity within the framework of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).

Regional cultural revitalization forms part of MAI’s broader effort to uphold the dignity and sovereignty of adat toward a civilized, sovereign, and dignified Indonesia.

The Pasuruan Raya gathering is expected to mark the beginning of broader dialogue and cooperation among cultural practitioners. Ideas, aspirations, potentials, and cultural challenges emerging in society will be discussed openly to find shared solutions through collective effort.

Outcomes and initiatives from Pasuruan Raya’s cultural community will be coordinated with MAI’s national leadership, including YM M. Rafik Datuk Rajo Kuaso, Secretary-General of Majelis Adat Indonesia, fostering synergy between regional and central bodies.
