Putune Sudirman Volunteers Distribute 24,000 Liters of Drinking Water to Aceh Tamiang Community

The INDONESIAN, (North Sumatra) – In response to the flash flood disaster hitting the region, Putune Sudirman Volunteers have distributed aid in the form of 24,000 liters of potable drinking water. Sourced from the Sibolangit Mountains, the clean water was provided as many local water sources have been contaminated by the floods.

Fadly Akbar Darus, Coordinator and Secretary-General of the Putune Sudirman Volunteers National Executive Board, stated that the assistance is a form of solidarity with the affected residents. “We hope this contribution will help meet the drinking water needs of flood victims,” he said.

The aid was directly handed over by the volunteer team to the Aceh Tamiang Regent and Police Chief, and then distributed through evacuation posts at two main locations: Kota Lintang Bawah and Desa Paya Bedi.

“We share our condolences over the disaster that has befallen our brothers and sisters in Aceh Tamiang – this is the worst disaster ever to hit the area. May similar incidents never happen again,” added Fadly Akbar Darus.

The floods have displaced thousands of residents and halted local economic activities. Support from various parties is needed to accelerate post-disaster recovery efforts.
