The INDONESIAN, West Sumatra — In a positive response to the enactment of Government Regulation (PP) No. 39 of 2025 on people’s mining governance, mining figures across West Sumatra have begun taking strategic steps by forming People’s Mining Cooperatives.
One of the first to act is H. Meris B., a prominent mining entrepreneur from Dharmasraya, who has officially established and now leads the Dharmasraya People’s Mining Cooperative.
During the meeting, Basyaruddin, Chairman of the Induk Koperasi Tambang Nusantara (IKTN), delivered a direct briefing on the cooperative’s strategic direction and acceleration plan. He emphasized that the government now provides easier and more structured pathways for obtaining mining permits when applications are submitted through cooperatives.
> “Today I welcomed a distinguished mining entrepreneur who has established a cooperative. This aligns perfectly with Government Regulation No. 39 of 2025 regarding people’s mining. I encourage miners in other regions to also join or establish cooperatives,” Basyaruddin stated at the end of the discussion.
The establishment of this new cooperative is expected to gain wider public attention, with the information set to be published across five additional media outlets to boost awareness and encourage cooperative formation in other regions.
