The INDONESIAN (Jakarta) — Allegations of a mob attack on a civilian within police headquarters have sparked scrutiny of law enforcement performance. The incident took place on the 2nd floor of the RPK PPA (Legal and Public Order Division) room at Metro Jaya Police Headquarters on Wednesday afternoon, March 26, 2026.

The victim, Faisal, was reportedly attending a confrontation meeting with his legal counsel when he was attacked by a group of people. According to circulating information, there were more than 20 perpetrators. The violent act is alleged to have occurred in the presence of law enforcement officers.

Fahd Elfouz Arafiq has been named as the person said to have led the attacking group. Additionally, there are allegations of involvement by Ranny Fadh Arafiq and a member of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) who was reportedly present at the location. To date, there has been no official confirmation regarding the involvement of these parties.

As a result of the incident, Faisal sustained bruises to his head and several parts of his body. He is reported to be receiving treatment at a hospital in the Pondok Indah area, South Jakarta.

The event has drawn criticism from various quarters. Wilson Lalengke, General Chairman of the Indonesian Citizen Journalists Association (PPWI), described the incident as a failure by authorities to ensure safety.

“This incident undermines the authority of the law. How could violence occur inside a police station without any prevention?” Wilson stated in his remarks on Thursday, March 27, 2026.

He emphasized the importance of transparent and accountable handling, including an investigation into the officers on duty at the time of the incident. According to him, the case not only involves criminal offenses but also impacts public trust in legal institutions.
