PRIME NEWS POST

North Sumatra — Community leaders and mining actors in Mandailing Natal Regency (Madina) have agreed to establish the Madina People’s Mining Cooperative, marking a strategic move in supporting the implementation of Government Regulation (PP) No. 39 of 2025 on Community Mining.

The agreement was reached during a consolidation meeting on 14 November 2025, initiated by Zulfahmi and attended by several local mining figures, including Mashuri, Azis, Oji, and Anwar, also known as Kumis.

The meeting concluded with the decision to formally inaugurate the Madina People’s Mining Cooperative on Monday, 16 November 2025. Following the inauguration, the process will continue with the issuance of a Notarial Deed of Establishment and the opening of the cooperative’s office in downtown Panyabungan.

Speaking by phone, Zulfahmi emphasized that the formation of the cooperative is a response to the urgent need for structuring and empowering local miners.

“We held this meeting to establish a cooperative in Madina, which will later be affiliated with IKTN (Induk Koperasi Tambang Nusantara) under the leadership of Mr. Basyaruddin. We hope everything proceeds smoothly as expected,” he stated.

As a mining entrepreneur and respected community figure, Zulfahmi has succeeded in uniting local miners under a more organized cooperative structure.

The establishment of this cooperative is expected to improve miners’ welfare, strengthen their legal standing, and ensure that community mining practices become more orderly, safe, and sustainable.

The Madina People’s Mining Cooperative is also anticipated to serve as an innovative model for responsible community mining development, delivering maximum benefits to the people of Madina and the surrounding regions.
