The internal dynamics of the Indonesian Islamic Students (PII) have heated up again after strong indications emerged of interference by a mining businessman who allegedly attempted to force the implementation of an illegal PII National Congress. This information comes from various internal sources that suggest the external push is not just a discourse but has already involved logistical and financial support to mobilize certain groups.
The PII Central Leadership Board strongly condemns any form of external intervention that tries to hijack the organization for personal or business interests. They view this as a serious threat to the organization’s sovereignty and an unacceptable form of manipulation.
“This is not just a procedural violation, but a structured effort to hijack the PII’s organizational process. If there are parties trying to force an illegal congress with external funding, that’s clearly overstepping boundaries,” said a PII Central Leadership Board member in an official statement.
PII emphasizes that the congress can only be held through a legitimate constitutional decision. Any agenda pushed by individuals, including mining businessmen who try to place economic interests behind the student organization’s movement, is seen as sabotage against the unity of cadres.
The PII Central Leadership Board also warns that they will not hesitate to take organizational and legal steps if these illegal activities continue to be forced. Cadres across the region are asked to remain solid, follow official directions, and reject any invitations from parties that do not have legitimacy in the implementation of the illegal National Congress, which was made in Jakarta, because based on the official decision, the congress will be held in Palembang, South Sumatra, on February 10-15, 2026.
“This organization is not a tool for anyone’s business transactions. If there are individuals trying to exploit PII for agendas outside the interests of cadres and the nation, that’s clearly a common enemy,” he concluded.
