JAKARTA – Prabowo for Indonesia (PROUI) has expressed full support for the establishment of the Task Force for Lay‑off Mitigation, describing it as a key strategic measure by President Prabowo Subianto’s administration to address labour challenges amid shifting global economic conditions and ongoing industrial transformation at home.
Dr. Kun Nurachadijat, Chairman of PROUI, emphasised that the task force represents concrete proof of the state’s commitment to safeguarding workers’ rights while preserving overall economic stability.
“This body must never be seen merely as an administrative formality. It must serve as a strong line of defence for Indonesia’s workforce — ensuring that economic policy adjustments and industrial restructuring never come at the expense of workers’ welfare,” Dr. Kun stated.
He noted that labour protection lies at the heart of President Prabowo’s broader vision: raising living standards, reducing poverty, and creating productive, decent, and sustainable employment opportunities.
PROUI underlined that the task force’s work should be preventive, proactive, and solution‑oriented. Its roles include early identification of industries at risk of mass redundancies, facilitating tripartite dialogue between government, employers, and workers, and delivering practical measures before labour disputes escalate into social or economic crises.
“Acting beforehand is far more effective than responding only after lay‑offs have taken place. The task force must lead in building communication channels, finding alternatives, and supporting business continuity — without neglecting workers’ legal entitlements,” Dr. Kun added.
PROUI further encourages the task force to involve universities, independent experts, and civil‑society groups in monitoring and evaluating its programmes. Such collaboration, it argues, yields evidence‑based, objective recommendations that reflect real‑world conditions — mirroring the administration’s established approach of engaging academia to strengthen governance of national priority schemes, including the Red‑White Village Cooperatives.
As an organisation supporting the administration, PROUI commits to monitoring the task force’s implementation to ensure it fulfils its dual purpose: protecting employees while maintaining a sound environment for investment.
PROUI believes that fair economic governance, elimination of exploitative practices, and stronger labour protection will help build a more stable, humane, inclusive, and equitable labour ecosystem — laying a solid foundation for a more prosperous and progressive Indonesia.
