JAKARTA — Syarikat Islam officially launched the logo for its 42nd National Congress during a Seminar and Public Dialogue titled “Sustainable Jakarta”, held on Wednesday (30/9/2026).
Hosted at the TIM Theater Wahyu Sihombing in Jakarta, the event forms part of the lead-up to the 42nd Syarikat Islam National Congress, scheduled to take place in Surabaya, East Java, on 18–20 October 2026.
The gathering was attended by Dr. Hamdan Zoelva, SH, MH, President of the Syarikat Islam Executive Council; Dr. Ferry J. Juliantono, SE, Ak., M.Si., SI Secretary-General and Minister of Cooperatives of the Republic of Indonesia; Arief Nasrudin, President Director of PAM JAYA; Basri Baco, Deputy Speaker of the DKI Jakarta Regional House of Representatives; alongside representatives from PT Jakarta Propertindo (Perseroda) and the Ministry of Environment.
The logo launch stands as a key milestone toward the Congress, which carries the theme “Economic Outreach Toward True Independence.”
The 42nd Congress logo integrates the numeral “42” with the Syarikat Islam emblem, featuring circular motifs and upward-pointing golden arrows. The visual identity symbolizes the organization’s enduring journey, unity, continuity of struggle, optimism, and a spirit of renewal in meeting contemporary challenges.
Dr. Hamdan Zoelva emphasized that the 42nd Congress must serve as a pivotal moment to reinforce the organization’s mission — particularly in building community economic self-reliance.
“The concept of economic outreach cannot remain merely an idea; it must be translated into tangible programs and movements that deliver real benefit to society,” Hamdan stated.
He noted that this vision aligns with Syarikat Islam’s historical commitment to economic development, trade, empowerment, and societal progress since its founding. Hamdan further urged that the consolidation process leading to the Congress produce ideas responsive to public needs and strengthen Syarikat Islam’s role in addressing pressing social and economic challenges.
Basri Baco, Deputy Speaker of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, highlighted the vital importance of collaboration across government, legislative bodies, civil society, the private sector, and communities in advancing sustainable development across the capital.
“Jakarta’s challenges extend beyond physical infrastructure — they encompass environmental quality, essential public services, social resilience, and long-term economic sustainability,” Basri said. He described forums such as “Sustainable Jakarta” as critical platforms to exchange ideas and translate discourse into actionable policy.
Arief Nasrudin, President Director of PAM JAYA, underscored water security as a foundational pillar of a sustainable Jakarta.
“Water is fundamental to public health, economic activity, community well-being, and urban resilience amid climate change. Water security cannot be achieved by any single entity — it requires shared commitment from government, public enterprises, civil society, the private sector, and all stakeholders,” Arief remarked. He also emphasized the need for broader public awareness on water conservation and environmental stewardship.
The Sustainable Jakarta Seminar and Public Dialogue addressed a spectrum of urban challenges — including water security, environmental protection, climate adaptation, sustainable development, and inclusive public participation. The cross-sector representation underscored the imperative of collaborative governance in navigating increasingly complex urban issues.
