The INDONESIAN (JAKARTA)– The Bamus Betawi Customary Council reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing social care and maintaining community harmony through its annual “15th Ramadan Full of Love” event, held on Wednesday (March 18, 2026) at the Condet Cultural Center in East Jakarta.
Consistently held since 2008, this activity is a tangible manifestation of Bamus Betawi’s steadfastness in spreading goodness during the holy month of Ramadan. A total of 500 orphans received assistance and aid packages in a warm atmosphere attended by community leaders, Islamic scholars, activists, and government representatives.
The event began at 4:00 PM Western Indonesian Time (WIB), encompassing assistance distribution, a joint prayer for the nation, and a communal iftar. This occasion served not only as a platform for sharing but also as a space for cross-community fellowship to strengthen the values of togetherness in Jakarta.
The General Chairperson of the Bamus Betawi Customary Council, Eki Pitung, emphasized that the activity is part of the organization’s long-term commitment to integrating Betawi religious and cultural values.
“Since 2008, we have been committed to continuously sharing with orphaned children. This year, we are assisting 500 children, adjusted to current conditions, but our spirit has never diminished,” he stated.
According to him, assisting orphans is not merely a social activity but a deeply ingrained tradition in the Betawi community’s identity, as well as part of efforts to preserve humanitarian and communal values.
“Alhamdulillah, we were able to gather with the orphaned children. This is not just about assistance; we also prayed together that Jakarta and Indonesia remain safe, peaceful, and blessed,” he added.
He also urged all community elements to continue maintaining unity and supporting development, while prioritizing local wisdom values and social harmony.
Furthermore, Eki stressed that Ramadan is a special opportunity to improve the quality of worship and increase good deeds.
“Ramadan is an extraordinary month. Every good deed is multiplied, even small acts hold great value—especially when we share and assist orphans,” he said.
On another note, he acknowledged that dynamics in organizing the event are natural. However, the shared goal of bringing joy to orphaned children is the main strength that maintains the committee’s solidarity.
“Differences are normal, but our objective is the same. Insyaallah (God willing), everything will proceed smoothly,” he said.
Concluding his statement, Eki expressed appreciation to all parties who contributed to the success of the event.
“This is a collective effort. I extend my gratitude to all supporting parties. Alhamdulillah, it has been running for 15 years, and insyaallah, we will continue it,” he concluded.
With the spirit of “Ramadan Full of Love,” Bamus Betawi hopes this activity will continue to inspire the growth of social care, strengthen community solidarity, and preserve cultural and communal values amid Jakarta’s dynamic urban life.
