BREAKING NEWS: Adi Maros Urges East Aceh Prosecutor’s Office to Investigate PT Beurata Maju: “Do Not Be Harsh on the Weak and Lenient Toward the Powerful”

The INDONESIAN (EAST ACEH )— Adi Maros, Director of the Aceh Human Foundation, has voiced strong criticism regarding the handling of alleged financial issues at PT Beurata Maju, a regional palm oil company owned by the East Aceh local government.

He called on the East Aceh Prosecutor’s Office to act fairly and transparently in upholding the law, particularly concerning claims that PT Beurata Maju failed to deposit revenue to the Regional Original Income (PAD) fund for approximately 10 years.

According to Adi Maros, law enforcement must not target only ordinary citizens, while major cases involving public funds appear to be left unaddressed.

“Darwin, a native of East Aceh, was named as causing losses to the state and immediately prosecuted within just one year. Then what about the alleged 10 years of unpaid regional revenue from PT Beurata Maju? The Prosecutor’s Office must act fairly — do not be harsh on the weak and lenient toward the powerful,” Adi Maros emphasized.

He also highlighted concerns over a lack of transparency in the company’s financial management, including the injection of approximately 15 billion Rupiah from the local government — funds derived from public money.

Adi Maros urged law enforcement authorities to investigate all parties involved in the management of PT Beurata Maju without exception, including those serving during the tenure of former East Aceh Regent Hasballah M. Thaib, also known as Rocky.

“If it is true that no regional revenue was deposited for a decade, this is no small matter. The public has the right to know how public funds were managed. The law must not be enforced strictly only against ordinary people,” he stated.

Adi Maros’s remarks have now gained public attention and are widely discussed among residents of East Aceh, who are demanding that law enforcement be carried out professionally, openly, and fairly.
