The INDONESIAN, (Garut)— Commitment to preserving, nurturing, and strengthening the cultural diversity of the Indonesian Archipelago earned recognition during the 2026 Garut Cultural Charm Festival (Gebyar Pesona Budaya Garut / GPBG), an official event under the Ministry of Tourism’s Karisma Event Nusantara (KEN) program.

Held under the theme “Tracing Footprints Across Three Eras in Three Centuries in the Land of Parahyangan,” the Garut Regency Customary Council (Dewan Adat Kabupaten Garut / DAKG) conferred a Citation of Merit upon His Highness Royal Noble of the Nusantara Khairan Husaini, M.SE., Deputy Chair of the Sumatra-Nusantara Arts and Cultural Cluster, in recognition of his participation and support for the 2026 Garut Cultural Charm Festival.

The award stands as an expression of appreciation for his contributions and support in strengthening ties among customary leaders, cultural figures, and communities across the Indonesian Archipelago.

The gathering of customary leaders from diverse regions at GPBG 2026 was regarded as a vital step toward building collective fellowship while introducing the rich traditions and heritage of the Nusantara to the broader public.

Organized by the Garut Regency Government, the event took place on Saturday, 25 April 2026, in front of the Bale Paminton Building in Garut. GPBG serves both as a platform to showcase Garut’s cultural potential and to reinforce culture as a cornerstone of identity-driven tourism rooted in local wisdom.

For the Garut Regency Customary Council, cultural preservation extends beyond safeguarding historical legacies—it is about ensuring customary values endure, are passed down, and remain a unifying force for present and future generations.

The honor bestowed upon His Highness Khairan Husaini is intended to further inspire collaboration among Indonesia’s customary and cultural communities. Such bonds form part of a shared effort to uphold the Nusantara’s diversity within the unity of the Indonesian nation.

“Custom and culture are the soul of our nation. When customary leaders and cultural figures from across the land gather, stand together, and support one another, we are in truth nurturing the brotherhood of the Archipelago.”

The Citation of Merit was officially endorsed by Dr. Ir. H. Abdusy Syakur Amin, M.Eng., IPU, Regent of Garut and Patron of the Garut Regency Customary Council; and Dr. (II.C.) Rd. Cepi S. Kusuma, S.Pd., Chair of the Garut Regency Customary Council.
