The INDONESIAN (Jakarta)– The Central Board of the Movement of Students and Youth of the Republic of Indonesia (DPP GMPRI) has expressed appreciation to Attorney General ST Burhanuddin for the prompt response of the Attorney General’s Office in following up on public reports of alleged corruption and abuse of power involving two members of the Tangerang Regency Regional House of Representatives.
Raja Agung Nusantara, Chairman of DPP GMPRI and concurrently Daily Chairman of the Central Board of the National Youth Committee of Indonesia (KNPI), stated that the Attorney General’s directive to the High Prosecutor’s Office of Banten to examine and investigate the reports demonstrates the institution’s concrete commitment to upholding anti-corruption efforts without exception.
“We commend Attorney General ST Burhanuddin for responding to public reports and instructing the Banten High Prosecutor’s Office to review and investigate the alleged corruption cases submitted. This shows that the Attorney General’s Office is open to public participation in overseeing the use of state and regional funds,” Raja Agung Nusantara said on 28 June 2026.
The statement follows the issuance of Attorney General’s Office letters No. R-1505/F.6/Fo.2/06/2026 dated 30 June 2026 and No. R-1528/F.6/Fo./07/2026 dated 1 July 2026, addressed to the Chief of the Banten High Prosecutor’s Office. The letters order verification of the complaints and legal action if indications of corruption are found in accordance with prevailing laws.
According to Raja Agung Nusantara, the reports submitted by GMPRI allege misuse of funds and regional assets linked to two Democratic Party faction councillors: Nonce Tendean and Aida Hubaida.
Regarding Aida Hubaida, GMPRI previously reported irregularities in the construction of three public facilities funded by the 2025 Amended Regional Budget (APBD-P). The projects include the H. Sanwani Juwarasa Foundation Training Centre, a mosque, and Vocational Training and Skills Development buildings allegedly erected on private land, causing estimated state losses of Rp1.2 billion.
Meanwhile, allegations against Nonce Tendean concern abuse of authority over the management and use of public service vehicles in Pasir Jaya Village, Cikupa District, Tangerang Regency. GMPRI’s internal investigation and media findings indicate misuse of three emergency response vehicles intended for social services, health missions, and logistics distribution, including unauthorized possession of vehicle documents and use for non-public purposes.
“If proven, these practices would not only cause estimated regional financial losses of Rp1.2 billion but also deprive the public of services valued at around Rp300 million. Total potential state losses reported amount to approximately Rp1.5 billion,” Raja Agung explained.
DPP GMPRI emphasized that all allegations must be verified through official investigation processes by authorized law enforcement agencies. The group fully supports the Banten Prosecutor’s Office in conducting professional, objective, and transparent inquiries.
“We do not wish anyone to be judged before a court ruling. However, we expect every report supported by credible information and preliminary evidence to be taken seriously to maintain public trust in state institutions,” Raja Agung stressed.
DPP GMPRI reaffirmed its commitment to monitoring the case as part of civil society’s role in supporting the anti-corruption agenda prioritized under President Prabowo Subianto’s administration.
“Corruption is a shared enemy. We are confident that under Attorney General ST Burhanuddin’s leadership, the Attorney General’s Office will continue to demonstrate courage and professionalism in investigating all alleged corruption cases without fear or favour,” Raja Agung Nusantara concluded.
