The INDONESIAN (North Sumatera) — The Indonesian Sustainable Forum (Forum Lestari Indonesia/FLI) continues to strengthen its environmental conservation movement through a range of activities, including outreach programs, educational sessions, and discussions with environmental activists from across Indonesia.

One notable highlight was a meeting and discussion featuring Abrar Syarif, an environmental activist widely known for his active advocacy in protecting protected wildlife species in Aceh.

During the session, Abrar Syarif shared his experiences, educational insights, and perspectives on the importance of preserving nature and wildlife habitats, which are currently facing multiple threats ranging from poaching and forest destruction to illegal wildlife trade.

According to Abrar Syarif, environmental protection and wildlife conservation are not solely the responsibility of the government, but require the involvement of all elements of society—including social organizations, youth groups, and the younger generation.

“Awareness to protect nature must be built collectively. Protected wildlife plays a vital role in maintaining ecological balance, which we must preserve to ensure the continuity of life for future generations,” Abrar Syarif stated during the discussion.

Meanwhile, the election of Faisal C. Ompusunggu as Chairman of FLI’s North Sumatra Regional Executive Board is expected to further strengthen collaborative efforts in raising public awareness of environmental issues.

The North Sumatra Regional Executive Board is supported by Marulitua P. Sianturi, S.E., S.Th., M.Kom., serving as Advisory Council Chair; Vonsius Sinaga as Supervisory Board Chair; Gunawan Saputra Sihombing as Secretary; and Yudi Pratama Siregar as Treasurer.
