Fabem Maluku to Hold Public Discussion: “Pela Gandong Amid Agrarian Conflict Building Peace on Disputed Land”

The INDONESIAN — The Regional Leadership Council (DPW) of Fabem Maluku will organize a public discussion under the theme “Pela Gandong Amid Agrarian Conflict: Building Peace on Disputed Land.”
The event aims to bring together various stakeholders to understand and seek solutions to ongoing agrarian disputes in the Maluku region.

Chairman of Fabem Maluku, Brian Lewerissa, highlighted the urgency of addressing agrarian conflicts through inclusive and culturally grounded approaches.

> “Agrarian conflict has become one of the most complex issues in Maluku, and we need a comprehensive approach to resolve it,”
Brian said.

 

He further emphasized that Pela Gandong, a deeply rooted local wisdom of kinship and unity among Maluku communities, has long been effective in maintaining social harmony and peace.

> “Pela Gandong represents the values of togetherness and reconciliation. We must understand how this local wisdom can serve as a foundation for resolving agrarian conflicts in Maluku,”
he added.

 

The upcoming public discussion will serve as a platform for experts, practitioners, and civil society to share knowledge and experiences on managing agrarian disputes through local wisdom-based approaches such as Pela Gandong.
It also seeks to build stronger collaboration between stakeholders in fostering peace and sustainable development across the Maluku region.
