The INDONESIAN , (Banten)— The Central Board of the Indonesian Students and Youth Movement (DPP GMPRI) has formally reported alleged child marriage practices to the General Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Banten Regional Police, via the Sub-Directorate IV for the Protection of Women and Children (PPA).

The report was received by Banten Police on August 7, 2026, as documented in GMPRI Central Letter No. 090/DPP/GMPRI/VIII/2026 regarding the Report of Strong Allegations of Criminal Child Marriage Practices.

Raja Agung Nusantara, M.Pd., M.M., Chairman of DPP GMPRI, emphasized that the filing reflects the organization’s commitment to safeguarding children and supporting strict law enforcement against any suspected violations involving minors.

“Based on field investigations by the GMPRI Central Board team and witness statements, we found indications of child marriage involving an underage girl. Accordingly, we call on law enforcement authorities to immediately conduct a comprehensive inquiry and examination of all parties allegedly involved,” Raja Agung Nusantara stated.

According to GMPRI’s investigation, the alleged incident took place on Thursday, May 28, 2026, in Kampung Cidadap Wetan, RT 081 RW 002, Tinggar Village, Curug District, Serang City, Banten Province. Family members are also suspected of actively organizing and facilitating the marriage. They include Ma’ruf (father of the groom) and Arif Rahman (father of the underage bride), both believed to have known about, consented to, and enabled the union.

Parties named in the report submitted to Banten Police include: Muhammad Aditya Putra bin Ma’ruf, an adult male residing in Kampung Bojong Kulon, Sanding Village, Petir District, Serang Regency; and Ririn Rahmawati binti Arif Rahman, whom investigation data confirms was still a minor at the time of the incident.

GMPRI’s report is grounded in legal provisions governing child protection and sexual violence crimes, including: Article 76D in conjunction with Article 81 of the Child Protection Law; Article 76E of the Child Protection Law; provisions of Law No. 12 of 2022 on Criminal Acts of Sexual Violence (UU TPKS); and relevant articles of the Criminal Code (KUHP).

Raja Agung Nusantara further stated that DPP GMPRI fully supports Banten Police’s professional handling of the case — objectively, transparently, and based on legal facts uncovered during the inquiry.

“We trust Banten Police to act professionally and justly. Child protection is a constitutional mandate that must be upheld without exception. There can be no tolerance for practices that risk robbing Indonesia’s children of their future,” he said.

DPP GMPRI also calls on all societal elements — religious and customary leaders, educational institutions, and local governments — to collectively raise awareness about the dangers and negative impacts of early marriage on education, health, psychology, and the future of the younger generation.

Demonstrating its commitment to overseeing the case, GMPRI stated it will continue monitoring the report’s progress at Banten Police until fair legal certainty is achieved in accordance with prevailing laws and regulations.

“We hope this case becomes a collective momentum to strengthen child protection in Indonesia and prevent the recurrence of child marriage practices that harm the nation’s future generations,” Raja Agung Nusantara concluded.
