This prominent figure from Bukit Surungan, Padang Panjang, West Sumatra, is known for her contributions to Islamic education reform and the independence movement.

Rahmah El Yunusiyah, born on October 26, 1900, and passed away on February 26, 1969, was a pioneering figure in women’s education. She founded the Diniyah Putri Padang Panjang school, which integrated Islamic values with modern thinking and women’s empowerment.

Ivoni Munir emphasized that Rahmah El Yunusiyah’s legacy serves as a reminder that struggle can take many forms, including through education and intellectual enlightenment. “She fought for the nation’s independence through subtle yet revolutionary means, empowering women to contribute to the country,” he added.
