The Indonesian National Police (Polri) distributed a total of 450 social assistance packages to art workers, street vendors, and residents around the Kota Tua (Old Town) area of Jakarta on Friday, June 12, 2026. This activity is part of a series of community service events leading up to the 80th Anniversary of the Indonesian National Police.

The distribution of aid reflects the Police’s commitment to remain present among the people, particularly those carrying out economic and creative activities in public spaces.

Head of the Public Order and Road Safety Unit of the Polri Traffic Corps, Police Senior Commissioner Ruben Very Takaendengan, who attended on behalf of the Police leadership, stated that this social initiative serves as an opportunity to strengthen relations between law enforcement and the community.

“The Police aim to build close solidarity with the people. We are here to assist, serve, protect, and safeguard the community,” Ruben said.

Beyond handing over the aid, Ruben also expressed appreciation for the creativity of the art community, which continues to bring life to the Kota Tua area. According to him, the various performances and artworks displayed play a key role in supporting Jakarta’s appeal as a tourist destination.

“I am proud to see the creations on display. This represents great potential to attract even more visitors to Kota Tua,” he noted.

The program received a positive response from local groups. Rangga, a representative of the Kota Tua community, said the Police’s attention through this initiative brings real benefits to artists and residents working in the area.

“Praise be to God, we welcome this activity wholeheartedly. The Police are here for our community, and we feel more valued and protected,” Rangga stated.

He added that the assistance is especially helpful for community members who rely on activities in the Kota Tua tourism zone as their main source of income. “This is truly beneficial for everyone in our community here in Old Town Jakarta,” he said.

Rangga expressed hope that cooperation between the Police and the public will continue to grow through more social programs and direct services. “We hope in the future the Police will be even more active and present more often among the people,” he added.

Police Senior Commissioner Ruben reaffirmed that the Police will continue to strengthen their presence across communities through various service programs and social activities.

He emphasized that a close relationship between the Police and the public is essential for maintaining security, order, and comfort in the area.

“We ask for your prayers and support so that the Police may become even more beloved by the people and continue delivering the best service,” Ruben concluded.
