The INDONESIAN — The Induk Koperasi Tambang Nusantara (IKTN), or the National Mining Cooperative Association, continues to intensify the dissemination of Government Regulation (PP) No. 39 of 2025 concerning People’s Mining Regulation. After successfully conducting socialization efforts in North Sumatra, IKTN has now extended its outreach to West Sumatra.
IKTN Chairman Basyaruddin welcomed Zulfahmi, a mining entrepreneur from Mandailing Natal, North Sumatra, at his residence in Pariaman Timur. The visit aimed to exchange insights on the implementation of the new regulation and to explore opportunities for establishing local mining cooperatives.
“I had the honor of meeting Mr. Fahmi, a mining entrepreneur from Mandailing Natal. We discussed PP No. 39/2025 regarding mineral and coal mining. I also recently conducted socialization activities in Mandailing Natal, and today Mr. Zulfahmi personally expressed his commitment to forming a cooperative in his region,” said Basyaruddin in a phone interview.
Meanwhile, Zulfahmi, familiarly known as Fahmi, expressed his optimism that the new regulation will provide clear legal protection for local mining operators.
“As a mining entrepreneur, I truly hope this regulation will give us a clear legal framework, allowing us to work peacefully, responsibly, and in compliance with the law,” he stated.
Zulfahmi also announced his plan to establish a mining cooperative in Mandailing Natal and called on other local mining entrepreneurs to collaborate and form cooperatives in their respective regions to strengthen community-based mining enterprises.
Concluding the meeting, Basyaruddin emphasized that the formation of cooperatives is a strategic step to ensure that community mining activities operate under proper governance while delivering greater benefits to local communities.
“The establishment of mining cooperatives is not merely a formality it is a crucial part of creating a fair and sustainable people’s mining system,” Basyaruddin concluded.
