The INDONESIAN, (Jakarta)– Ferdinan Weimar, Chairman of the Freestyle Boxing Organization (FBO) Indonesia, has expressed appreciation for the warm reception and positive support extended by the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) toward the development of freestyle boxing in Indonesia.
Ferdinan stated that during the meeting, the Ministry affirmed its commitment to positioning FBO Indonesia as a strategic partner in building a healthy, competitive sports ecosystem that delivers positive impact for the younger generation.
According to him, FBO does not merely organize sporting competitions; it also serves as a platform for character building, fostering sportsmanship, nurturing talent, preventing juvenile delinquency, and strengthening unity through sports diplomacy.
In addition to backing the planned Minister of Home Affairs Championship Belt, the Ministry also confirmed its readiness to support the development of the FBO Campus and FBO School programs, aimed at expanding young athlete development across universities and schools.
Ferdinan added that following the Minister of Home Affairs Championship Belt event, FBO Indonesia is preparing a series of Governor, Regent, and Mayor Championship Belt events across regions, as part of efforts to advance competitive sports and scout young talent nationwide.
This support builds on FBO Indonesia’s earlier success in hosting the DUEL International Freestyle Boxing Exhibition Fight in January 2026. The international event earned widespread acclaim for strengthening sports diplomacy, upholding sportsmanship, and serving as a vehicle for youth development.
Previously, FBO Indonesia also received positive backing from the National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI) for organizational development and freestyle boxing athlete training. Synergy with all stakeholders is expected to further establish FBO Indonesia as a professional, inclusive sports organization contributing to the advancement of national sports.
