The INDONESIAN (Jakarta) – A survey conducted by Kompas Research and Development (Litbang Kompas) from April 9 to 18, 2026, found growing public optimism toward the Indonesian National Police (Polri).

The survey, which involved 1,200 respondents through face-to-face interviews across 38 provinces, recorded that 82.4 percent of the public believes Polri’s performance will continue to improve in the future. This figure marks an increase from 76.2 percent recorded in 2025.

Alongside the rise in public confidence, the survey also showed Polri’s institutional reputation rose to 71.5 percent. The service professionalism index increased from 7.76 to 8.37, while 80 percent of respondents assessed that facilities at police stations have become more comfortable and improved.

Responding to the findings, Founder and President of the Haidar Alwi Institute (HAI) and Haidar Alwi Care (HAC), Ir. R. Haidar Alwi, M.T., described the results as the most valuable gift for Polri ahead of the 2026 Bhayangkara Day commemoration.

According to him, public trust represents the highest form of appreciation, stemming from people’s direct experience in receiving police services.

“The Kompas Litbang survey showing public confidence in Polri stands at 82.4 percent is very encouraging news. Public trust is the greatest asset for a law enforcement institution to continue improving the quality of its service to the nation and state,” Haidar Alwi stated.

He viewed the results as evidence that the transformation implemented by Polri in recent years has been moving in a positive direction. Reforms in public service, improved professionalism among personnel, and a stronger culture of humane service have begun to be felt directly by the community.

Haidar Alwi also expressed appreciation to National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo for the achievement. Under General Listyo Sigit’s leadership, he noted, Polri has evolved into a more modern, professional, humane, and adaptive institution capable of meeting contemporary challenges.

He emphasized that the rise in public confidence to 82.4 percent, improved institutional standing to 71.5 percent, and a higher service professionalism index prove that Polri’s transformation is not merely reflected in policies but is also experienced tangibly by people across the country.

Furthermore, Haidar Alwi hoped the momentum of Bhayangkara Day would strengthen the resolve of all police personnel to continue making improvements, enhance public service quality, uphold fair law enforcement, and maintain national stability as the foundation of Indonesia’s development.

“May Polri remain an institution loved by the people, grow ever more professional in carrying out its duties, and stand firm in guiding Indonesia toward a safe, peaceful, and prosperous future,” Haidar Alwi concluded.
