Saut MS of TIS Expresses Optimism as Police Comr. Gen. Dadang Hartanto Takes Charge of Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police

Police Commissioner General Dadang Hartanto has officially assumed office as the Chief of the Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police (Kapolda Metro Jaya), succeeding Police Commissioner General Asep Edi Suheri, who now serves as the Inspector of General Supervision (Irwasum) of the Indonesian National Police (Polri).
The handover of command ceremony (sertijab) was held at the Rupatama Building, Polri Headquarters, Jakarta, on Friday (Oct 9), and was led directly by the Chief of Indonesian National Police, Police General Suyudi Ario Seto.
The appointment was formalized in the Police Chief’s Telegram Letter Number ST/2205/X/KEP./2026, dated October 2, 2026.
Executive Director of Total Info and Statistics (TIS), Saut MS, S.T., expressed high optimism regarding Dadang’s leadership. “We are optimistic about Police Comr. Gen. Dadang Hartanto being entrusted to lead Polda Metro Jaya,” he told reporters.
According to Saut, the 1994 Police Academy (Akpol) graduate possesses an extensive track record, particularly in criminal investigation. He has held various regional posts and strategic positions at Polri Headquarters, including Personal Secretary to the Police Chief.
His career trajectory has steadily advanced. Dadang served as Deputy Chief of the North Sumatra Regional Police in 2020. Later in 2023, he served as Principal Police Lecturer Grade I at the Police Staff and Leadership School (Sespim Lemdiklat Polri).
He was then appointed Head of the Police Science College (STIK Lemdiklat Polri) in September 2024. In 2025, he was named Chief of the Maluku Regional Police.
”Therefore, Comr. Gen. Dadang’s leadership at Polda Metro Jaya is beyond doubt,” Saut asserted.
Beyond his police career, Dadang has also contributed to academia. He is a Full Professor of Public Administration Science at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU).
Additionally, he made headlines when he served as Commander of the Ceremony for the 79th Bhayangkara Day at Monas Square, Jakarta, on July 1, 2025. During the ceremony, which was inspected by President Prabowo Subianto, Dadang was personally requested to report to Prabowo after the event concluded.
