The INDONESIAN (Jakarta)— Syafrudin Budiman, S.IP., National Coordinator of the Prabowo‑Gibran Volunteer Alliance (ARPG), has extended high praise to the leadership of Indonesia’s House of Representatives (DPR RI), notably Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, for pledging to finalise and enact the Asset Forfeiture Bill no later than 15 December 2026.
Syafrudin Budiman, affectionately known as Gus Din, conveyed the appreciation in a statement released in Jakarta on Thursday (27/8/2026). He described the DPR’s commitment as a positive step deserving support from all sectors of society.
“ARPG conveys its highest appreciation to the DPR leadership, especially Mr Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, for demonstrating genuine resolve to advance the Asset Forfeiture Bill. This is both an act of good will and a vital milestone for strengthening corruption eradication in Indonesia,” Gus Din stated.
The commitment was officially stated by Dasco during the DPR Plenary Session held Thursday (27/8/2026). The House confirmed the deadline of 15 December 2026 for passing the legislation. Habiburokhman, Chair of DPR Commission III, added that completion is no longer merely a timeline but a firm pledge to table it for a plenary vote this coming December.
Gus Din underscored the Bill’s fundamental importance to upholding the rule of law and combating corruption. Once enacted, it is expected to equip state authorities with stronger powers to trace, seize and forfeit assets derived from criminal acts while maximising recovery of state losses.
“This law has long been awaited. It answers not just the needs of government and law enforcers but the public’s hope for more effective anti‑corruption measures that genuinely deter wrongdoing,” he said.
He also stressed that the framework must guarantee fair, balanced and consistent application of law — free from selective enforcement. For that reason, deliberations ought to remain open, methodical and inclusive of broad public input.
“We want strong laws rooted in justice. Anti‑corruption efforts must never open the door to arbitrary action. This Bill must strike a careful balance between the State’s mandate to recover ill‑gotten gains and the protection of citizens’ legitimate rights,” he affirmed.
Gus Din welcomed broader civil‑society participation throughout the legislative process. Dasco had previously confirmed Commission III remains open to public feedback covering both substance and procedural details.
Gus Din acknowledged the Bill introduces novel legal concepts requiring careful consideration but urged that complexity not become an excuse for further delay.
“After years as an outstanding agenda item, we now have clarity on timelines. Let us ensure this momentum holds steady until the Asset Forfeiture Bill is formally enacted into law,” he remarked.
### Support for the Prabowo‑Gibran Administration
Gus Din reaffirmed ARPG’s solid backing for President Prabowo Subianto and Vice‑President Gibran Rakabuming Raka in their drive against Corruption, Collusion and Nepotism (KKN). He called eradicating these practices central to building an administration that is clean, efficient and truly people‑centred.
“ARPG fully supports the Prabowo‑Gibran government in stamping out KKN and building accountable, transparent and high‑integrity governance structures — in short, delivering both good governance and clean governance,” Gus Din explained.
He predicted this landmark legislation would serve as a pillar strengthening public confidence in state institutions and reinforcing the supremacy of law.
“If ill‑gotten assets can be traced and recovered effectively, the State sends an unmistakable message: corruption pays no dividends. Government exists to guard public funds and uphold fairness for all,” he stated.

“What matters most right now is upholding this commitment together. The DPR has set its course; it falls to government, civil society and every segment of our nation to see it through — securing a law that is timely, robust, fair, balanced and rooted in the public interest,” he concluded.
