Madura — The Parupuh Palace Aryo Menak Senoyo Madura reaffirms its role as guardian of the continuity of customs, spirituality, and ancestral leadership of the Nusantara (Archipelago) through a series of Song Osong Traditional Ceremonies conducted solemnly, sacredly, and rich in spiritual meaning.
Kyai Raden Miftahussurur Fatah, SE, a customary figure of the Parupuh Palace Aryo Menak Senoyo Madura, stated that the palace’s customary and spiritual activities continue following the completion of the Sacred Nyello’ Aing 7 Wells Ritual — a purification ceremony that serves as a spiritual foundation before entering subsequent customary stages.
The Nyello’ Aing 7 Wells Ritual is a sacred customary procession using seven wells inherited from the Parupuh Palace, which hold high historical, spiritual, and cultural value as the noble heritage of the palace ancestors. These seven wells are not ordinary wells; they symbolize purity, alignment of physical and spiritual aspects, and the continuity of customary values and leadership of the Parupuh Palace Aryo Menak Senoyo Madura.
During the sacred procession, the ritual water for Nyello’ Aing from the seven palace wells was also enhanced with sacred ritual water from Jolotundo Holy Spring — a historical site from the Medang Kingdom (Ancient Mataram) closely linked to King Airlangga. Historically, Jolotundo Holy Spring is known as a sacred bathing and spiritual meditation site for kings and royal families, located on the western slope of Mount Penanggungan in East Java. The enhancement of this ritual water signifies the strengthening of spiritual practices, physical and spiritual purification, and a connection to the noble wisdom of Nusantara ancestors within the Parupuh Palace’s customary procession.
“Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh. After the Sacred Nyello’ Aing 7 Wells Ritual was completed, the Parupuh Palace’s customary and spiritual activities are continued with the Sacred Ritual of 40-Day Al-Qur’an Recitation, which God willing will be followed by recitation during the holy month of Ramadhan,” said Kyai Raden Miftahussurur Fatah.
The statement was delivered at the Communication Forum of the Indonesian Customary Council (MAI), attended by kings, sultans, datuks, queens, and customary leaders from various regions across the Nusantara, on Thursday (22/1/2026).
He further explained that the 40-Day Recitation of the Noble Al-Qur’an began on January 20, 2026, and will run until February 28, 2026, to be followed by Al-Qur’an recitation throughout the holy month of Ramadhan. This series of recitations serves as the Parupuh Palace’s spiritual endeavor to seek blessings, safety, and divine guidance for the continuity of customs, community, and palace leadership.
The recitation series will conclude with a sacred dhudhus ritual feast, which includes a purification bath for the prospective King of Parupuh Palace Aryo Menak Senoyo Madura. This will be followed by a joint Khatmil Qur’an (completion of Al-Qur’an recitation) on a single day at the end of Ramadhan to close the entire recitation series.
Subsequently, the Song Osong Traditional Ceremony series of the Parupuh Palace Aryo Menak Senoyo Madura will continue with:
1. Customary Assembly of the Parupuh Palace Aryo Menak Senoyo Madura Customary Consultative Body
2. Customary Assembly of the Indonesian Customary Council (MAI)
3. Sacred Ritual of Coronation of the King of Parupuh Palace Aryo Menak Senoyo Madura
The entire series reaffirms the Parupuh Palace Aryo Menak Senoyo Madura as a customary entity that maintains balance between noble ancestral heritage, Islamic spiritual values, and Nusantara customary order — serving as a symbol of dignified continuity of culture, spirituality, and customary leadership amid the dynamics of the times.
