The INDONESIAN – As part of his support for Government Regulation (PP) No. 39 of 2025 on Mining Management through Cooperatives, Basyaruddin, together with the board members of the National Mining Cooperative Federation (IKTN), conducted a direct outreach to miners in Pasaman Barat, West Sumatra.
PP 39/2025 provides a legal foundation for cooperatives to engage in mining operations in a lawful, transparent, and sustainable manner. The initiative led by Basyaruddin received a positive response from local miners.
During the session, Basyaruddin explained the various benefits miners can gain by joining cooperatives.
“I urge miners to join cooperatives. There are many benefits, one of which is that we, as miners, will be legally protected—allowing us to work more safely and with peace of mind,” he said over a phone interview.
Meanwhile, Mulyadi, representing the miners, expressed his appreciation for the event.
“We warmly welcome today’s outreach, especially with the issuance of PP No. 39/2025. This regulation is excellent as it directly benefits grassroots communities. We hope it will soon be implemented,” he stated.
The socialization of PP 39/2025 was also attended by prospective partners from the National Farmers’ Cooperative Alliance (Sahabat Tani Indonesia). On the same occasion, Basyaruddin emphasized that the event coincided with National Flora and Fauna Day, reaffirming the cooperative’s commitment to environmental preservation.
“Sustaining the ecosystem in post-mining areas is our top priority. The cooperative will ensure the implementation of revegetation programs to restore the environment,” Basyaruddin concluded.
