JAKARTA, 24 July 2026 – A. Hans Tayeb Adrian, Treasurer-General of the National Board of the Indonesian Law Students Association (DPN PERMAHI), has called on the Gerindra Party Honor Council to immediately open an investigation into alleged ethical violations involving Andi Tenri Walinonong, Speaker of the Bone Regional House of Representatives (DPRD).
The call follows reports of alleged abuse against Yuli Nofita Sari (29). According to accounts, the incident took place at the Bone DPRD canteen, where the Speaker is accused of dousing the victim with water and throwing a bottle of chili sauce at her.
A native of Bone himself, A. Hans Tayeb Adrian stated that if the allegations are proven through legal or internal proceedings, the acts carry not only potential legal consequences but also constitute a serious ethical breach by a public official entrusted with upholding the dignity of office.
“A leader must set an example in attitude, speech, and conduct. Public office confers authority, but it also carries a moral duty to uphold integrity, respect the public, and model exemplary behaviour,” he said.
Drawing on the Bugis‑Bone leadership tradition, he noted that leaders are bound by three core principles of Adab Bugis: sipakatau (treating one another as fellow humans), sipakainge (reminding one another), and sipakalebbi (mutual respect and honour).
These principles teach that true respect is not commanded by rank, but earned by showing respect to all—including subordinates and the people being led. A leader must weigh every word, uphold every person’s dignity, and exercise power as a trust to serve.
“Leaders who safeguard the people’s honour will themselves be honoured by the people. Authority without moral example loses all meaning in the public eye,” he emphasised.
He recalled that DPRD members are legally bound to protect the institution’s dignity, standing, and credibility under Law No. 23 of 2014 on Regional Government and amendments, as well as Government Regulation No. 12 of 2018 on Council Rules of Procedure—provisions that set out a code of ethics and the role of the DPRD Honor Council in enforcing compliance.
Party cadres holding public office also bear responsibility for their organisation’s reputation. For this reason, he urged the Gerindra Honor Council to conduct clarification and review in line with internal party procedures.
“If the inquiry finds ethical violations, the Council must impose appropriate reprimands or sanctions under party rules. Discipline is essential to preserving the party’s standing and maintaining public trust,” A. Hans stated.
He warned that the allegations have already drawn public attention and risk damaging the party’s image unless handled transparently and accountably. An ethical review, he added, is part of the party’s duty to ensure the integrity of its representatives in public office.
DPN PERMAHI nevertheless reaffirmed respect for the presumption of innocence. All claims of abuse and ethical breach must be proven through due legal process and examination by the competent authorities before any finding of violation can be made.
