The INDONESIAN, (Jakarta)—– The Freestyle Boxing Organization (FBO) Indonesia continues to gain backing from various stakeholders in its efforts to establish freestyle boxing as a platform for character building, sporting achievement, and love for the nation.
This development emerged during a consultation and inaugural meeting between FBO Indonesia and the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) held on Monday (27/7/2026). The meeting was attended by the Director-General of Politics and General Governance (Dirjen Polpum) of Kemendagri, along with officials from the Community Organizations Directorate; Ferdinan Weimar, Chairman of FBO Indonesia; and retired TNI First Admiral Heri Suyanto, Supervisor of FBO Indonesia’s Event Organizer team.
Ferdinan Weimar expressed gratitude for the warm, productive, and collaborative spirit that defined the discussion.
“Alhamdulillah, our first meeting with the Ministry of Home Affairs proceeded very smoothly. The welcome extended by the Director-General was truly exceptional. He commended the upcoming Minister of Home Affairs Championship Belt program in partnership with FBO Indonesia and confirmed his full readiness to support its successful implementation,” Ferdinan stated.
According to Ferdinan, the Director-General also recognized that FBO Indonesia’s programs carry strategic value, as they go beyond athletic competition to serve as a vehicle for character development among the younger generation—instilling sportsmanship, discipline, brotherhood, and patriotism.
During the meeting, Kemendagri encouraged FBO Indonesia to expand its initiatives through collaboration with the Association of Governors, Regents, and Mayors across Indonesia. This synergy is expected to pave the way for the organization of Governor’s Belt, Regent’s Belt, and Mayor’s Belt events in various regions nationwide.
Beyond competitions, FBO Indonesia will also establish FBO Camps across the country to serve as training hubs for athletes and centers for positive activities for communities and youth. These initiatives form part of broader efforts to foster patriotism through sports.
Ferdinan added that the Director-General will immediately report the outcome of the consultation to the Minister of Home Affairs, with the aim of scheduling an official meeting between FBO Indonesia leadership and the Minister. During that session, FBO Indonesia will present its full concept and roadmap for the Minister of Home Affairs Championship Belt, as well as its national organizational development plan.
“We are optimistic that FBO Indonesia’s programs will receive the full support of the Minister of Home Affairs through the Director-General. He even expressed his hope that FBO Indonesia will become a strategic partner of the Ministry of Home Affairs in sports development and youth empowerment,” Ferdinan noted.
Moving forward, FBO Indonesia is preparing follow-up programs including FBO Campus and FBO School, designed to nurture young athletes within educational institutions. These initiatives aim not only to produce accomplished freestyle boxers, but also to cultivate leadership, discipline, and a sense of national pride.
The backing from Kemendagri further strengthens FBO Indonesia’s momentum following the successful DUEL International Freestyle Boxing Exhibition Fight in January 2026—an event widely praised for promoting sportsmanship, sports diplomacy, and youth development. FBO Indonesia has also previously secured support from the National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI) for organizational and athlete development efforts.
In closing, Ferdinan Weimar called upon all board members, advisors, supervisors, and the entire FBO Indonesia community to continue offering their prayers and support.
