From Tsunami to Progress: Irsan Gading Calls Sukma Bangsa a Symbol of Aceh’s Educational Resurgence

The INDONESIAN , (Aceh)– The visit of NasDem Party Chairman Surya Paloh to Aceh marks a pivotal moment that not only strengthens national fraternity but also reaffirms commitment to human resource development through education. This was stated by Member of the House of Representatives for the NasDem Faction and Chairman of NasDem Aceh Regional Leadership Council Irsan Sosiawan Gading, M.B.A., as he personally welcomed Surya Paloh at Malikussaleh Airport, North Aceh, on Thursday (23/7).

The warm welcome was attended by NasDem Aceh board members and cadres, before the entourage proceeded to Sukma Bangsa School in Lhokseumawe to attend the 20th anniversary commemoration of the Sukma Bangsa Foundation.

Irsan expressed pride over Surya Paloh’s arrival in the Land of Rencong. He said the visit reflects enduring attention and commitment to Aceh’s future, particularly in the field of education.

“This morning, all NasDem Aceh officials and I feel proud and delighted to welcome NasDem Party Chairman, our beloved Surya Paloh. His presence brings renewed spirit to the effort of building Aceh through education and enhancing the quality of its human resources,” Irsan stated.

He emphasized that Surya Paloh’s attendance at the Foundation’s two-decade celebration goes beyond a mere ceremony—it stands as a symbol of consistent dedication to making education the bedrock of national development.

According to Irsan, over the past 20 years the Sukma Bangsa Foundation has proven itself an educational institution that nurtures young people of strong character, achievement, national outlook, and abiding Islamic values.

“The Chairman’s presence underscores that human development must be a top priority. Education is our most precious investment in producing an outstanding, principled generation ready to meet future challenges,” he added.

Irsan also recalled that the establishment of the Sukma Bangsa Foundation is inseparable from the 2004 Aceh tsunami tragedy. Amidst widespread grief, Surya Paloh together with Media Group and the support of the Indonesian people offered new hope by founding Sukma Bangsa School for children who lost their parents and their future.

This humanitarian gesture, he said, demonstrates that compassion does not end with emergency relief—it extends into educational investment whose benefits are felt across generations.

“From that great disaster arose a noble endeavor. Sukma Bangsa School symbolizes how concern can be transformed into a long‑term investment in Aceh’s children. These humanitarian values remain alive to this day,” explained the legislator for Electoral District Aceh II.

Irsan further commended the Foundation’s consistency in maintaining educational standards for two decades. He noted that the institution has become a key pillar in producing capable human resources and advancing Aceh’s development.

Aceh’s future progress, he stressed, will be determined by the quality of its younger generation. Therefore, continued synergy between the government, education sector, communities, and all elements of society is essential to ensure educational investment yields globally competitive leaders.

“The Sukma Bangsa Foundation has proven that quality education produces generations who excel not only academically but also in character, social awareness, and service to the nation. This legacy must be preserved and strengthened for the advancement of Aceh and Indonesia,” Irsan concluded.
