GMPRI Central Board Demands Law Enforcement in Alleged Theft and Embezzlement Case of Project Materials in Gili Meno

PRIME NEWS POST

The INDONESIAN,(Jakarta)— The Central Board of the Indonesian Students and Youth Movement (DPP GMPRI) has expressed its full support for the National Police Headquarters (Mabes Polri) to push for the accelerated handling of a case concerning the alleged theft and embezzlement of construction materials at a project site in Gili Meno, North Lombok Regency (KLU), West Nusa Tenggara.

The General Chairman of DPP GMPRI, Raja Agung Nusantara, emphasized that his organization urges the North Lombok Police Chief to immediately take firm legal action against the parties allegedly responsible for the case.

“DPP GMPRI supports Mabes Polri in urging the North Lombok Police Chief to immediately summon, investigate, arrest, and detain Mr. Dickson Sibarani, the Operational Manager of BASK Gili Meno Hotel, as well as Mr. Gregory Peter Meyer, the Director of PT Bask Gili Meno,” he stated firmly.

Based on the results of internal investigations, studies, and analyses conducted by DPP GMPRI together with GMPRI Regional Board (DPD) of NTB and GMPRI Local Board (DPC) of KLU, the alleged criminal acts are suspected to have occurred since October 2021. The items allegedly stolen and misappropriated consist of project construction materials, with estimated losses reaching approximately Rp25 billion.

“The resulting losses not only impact the contractor but also harm the wider community. Therefore, we believe that the operational management and the company director must be held accountable for these alleged criminal acts,” he added.

Aside from demanding the arrest of the suspects, DPP GMPRI also requests the police to immediately secure evidence.

University President Joins Call for Action

In a separate statement, the President of NW Mataram University, M. Rizwandi, also voiced demands for law enforcement officials to act swiftly and transparently in handling this case.

“We urge the North Lombok Police to take firm action immediately, including sealing the construction site as a form of commitment to law enforcement,” he said.

He also emphasized that his side will continue to monitor this case until it reaches a conclusion.

“If there is no legal certainty, we will continue to escalate this issue to a higher level. If necessary, we are ready to fight for it at the national level,” he asserted.

Police Confirm Two Reports

Meanwhile, the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit at North Lombok Police, AKP Punguan Hutahaean, confirmed that the police are currently handling two separate reports filed by the same complainant, Kevin Jonathan. The reports relate to contractual issues and alleged criminal acts within the construction project of a hotel in the Gili Meno area.

DPP GMPRI reiterates its commitment to continue overseeing the legal process to ensure it runs professionally, transparently, and fairly.
