The INDONESIAN, (Jakarta)– The Central Executive Board of the Indonesian National Youth Committee (DPP KNPI), led by General Chair Haris Pertama, together with the North Sumatra KNPI Regional Board (DPD), Aceh KNPI DPD, and Banda Aceh City KNPI DPD, has officially launched a national youth mutual cooperation movement by moving directly to the areas of Langkat Regency, Aceh Tamiang Regency, and Langsa City.
This movement is tangible proof that youth are not merely onlookers amid various social, ecological, and humanitarian crises, but are part of the solution working on the frontlines alongside the community.
KNPI General Chair Haris Pertama emphasized that in the current stressful situation facing the nation, youth must act as a bridge of hope.
“In these difficult times, youth must be a bridge of hope – connecting the people’s voices with government policies while mobilizing the nation’s collective energy,” Haris stated in an official press release on Sunday (Dec 7, 2025).
According to him, gotong royong (mutual cooperation) is not just a slogan, but a living force of the nation that unites courage, brotherhood, and national resilience.
“Youth should not just watch. Youth must be present, take action, and embrace their wounded nation,” he said.
KNPI also highlighted the importance of synergy between youth and the government in addressing increasingly complex ecological, social, and economic challenges. Active youth participation is believed to strengthen the state’s presence among the people.
“From Sabang to Merauke, Indonesian youth have the moral strength to ensure every citizen feels the state’s presence. When youth act together with the government, the state’s legitimacy becomes stronger, more vibrant, and more tangible,” Haris added.
As a concrete step, KNPI has established the National Youth Solidarity Post and activated a volunteer network across 34 provinces to accelerate aid, logistics distribution, and coordination with local governments and the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB).
KNPI also invited all elements of Indonesian youth – youth organizations, student communities, school students, Islamic boarding schools, young creators, and even young diaspora – to join the national movement titled “Youth in Action, Indonesia Rises.”
Beyond just logistics aid, KNPI emphasized that the essence of national recovery is solidarity that strengthens every citizen’s steps.
“For KNPI, gotong royong is not just a traditional value, but a national strategy. When the people, government, and youth unite, recovery progresses faster and the nation stands firmer,” Haris concluded.
Through sincere solidarity and real on-the-ground work, KNPI calls on all Indonesian people to act together. For it is from unity that Indonesia rises. (Bar.S)
Note: Gotong royong is retained as a key term with its English translation in parentheses, as it is a distinct Indonesian cultural concept that cannot be fully captured by a single English word.
