The INDONESIAN (Jakarta)— The Majelis Adat Indonesia (MAI / Council of Indonesian Traditional Communities) has voiced full support for the statement by President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, who emphasised that national unity and synergy among the nation’s leaders form the essential foundation for a progressive, strong, and sovereign Indonesia.

The endorsement was conveyed by MAI Secretary-General, Dato’ M. Rafik Datuk Rajo Kuaso, in response to President Prabowo’s address during a meeting with the leadership of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) at the State Palace on 31 July 2026.

On that occasion, President Prabowo stressed that no nation can succeed if its leaders and elites remain trapped in perpetual conflict and division.

“Show me any country that has ever prospered while its elites keep fighting among themselves,” President Prabowo asserted.

According to Dato’ M. Rafik Datuk Rajo Kuaso, the President’s message carries profound statesmanship and speaks directly to Indonesia’s current reality.

“The Majelis Adat Indonesia fully supports President Prabowo’s call for all elements of the nation to prioritise unity, reconciliation, and the spirit of mutual cooperation. Indonesia cannot leap forward into a developed nation if our collective energy continues to be drained by conflict, polarisation, and unproductive power struggles,” Dato’ M. Rafik Datuk Rajo Kuaso stated.

He noted that the Indonesian nation today faces immense challenges — spanning the economy, social welfare, culture, education, food security, and an increasingly complex global geopolitical landscape. In such times, all components of society must place national interests above factional or group interests.

National reconciliation, he added, is far more than a political slogan; it is an urgent necessity to strengthen unity and accelerate development.

“While our nation still grapples with poverty, unemployment, development inequality, global food security threats, and economic uncertainty, what we need most is togetherness and collaboration. The people demand solutions — not endless strife,” he emphasised.

As an organisation that unites traditional and cultural communities across the archipelago, MAI observed that Indonesia’s ancestral wisdom has long taught the values of deliberation, brotherhood, and resolving differences through dignified dialogue.

Accordingly, MAI calls upon all national figures, political leaders, civil society organisations, academics, businesspeople, youth, and all sectors of society to embrace the great agenda of national unity articulated by President Prabowo.

“Indonesia holds immense potential to become a global powerhouse. Yet that vision can only be realised if we — the people of this nation — stand united, respect one another, and work together to build our homeland.

It is high time we put an end to divisive politics and advance national reconciliation for the sake of future generations,” Dato’ M. Rafik Datuk Rajo Kuaso said.

MAI firmly believes that a strong spirit of unity will serve as the driving force toward building an Indonesia that is prosperous, just, cultured, and globally competitive — in keeping with the ideals of the nation’s founding fathers.
