Prince Philippe Zhuang Wangxiang Brings Singaporean Investors to Indonesia’s New Capital Nusantara

The INDONESIAN — The Kutai Mulawarman Kingdom has reaffirmed its strategic role in supporting the development of Indonesia’s New Capital City (IKN) Nusantara through the organization of the Kutai Mulawarman Kingdom and The Indonesia Capital Authority Investor Gathering (INGA 2026). The event was led by His Royal Highness Prince Master Dato’ Seri Philippe Zhuang Wangxiang, JP, Orang Kaya Maharaja 3 Lipatan and President of the Kutai Mulawarman Royal Council in Singapore, who specifically brought investors from Singapore and other countries to see the potential of the IKN area firsthand.

INGA 2026 took place over four days from January 23–26, 2026, serving as a platform for customary, cultural, and economic diplomacy that brought together the extended Kutai Mulawarman royal family, international royal councils, the IKN Authority, and consortia of national and global companies.

Event Agenda

The activities began on Friday, January 23, 2026, with the welcome of distinguished guests and investors at Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman Sepinggan Airport in Balikpapan, followed by a communal dinner as a mark of respect from the Kutai Mulawarman Kingdom.

On Saturday, January 24, 2026, the main agenda of INGA 2026 was held in the Nusantara capital area. Participants were guided by Ms. Nadia and two protocol officers from the Nusantara Capital City Authority (OIKN) to visit the Nusantara National Palace area, core government zones, and various strategic area management opportunities to be developed by the Kutai Mulawarman Kingdom alongside its business consortia.

In the evening, the event continued with an address by His Majesty the Maharaja of Kutai Mulawarman — which reinforced the kingdom’s spiritual direction and customary policies — followed by the signing of cooperation agreements with 10 companies, including 7 foreign firms from Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and India, plus 3 Indonesian national companies.

On Sunday, January 25, 2026, activities proceeded with site visits and meetings to finalize area proposals at the Narayana Hotel in Sepaku, to deepen plans for area management and investment. The event concluded on Monday, January 26, 2026, with all guests and investors being transported back to the airport for their return to respective countries.

Event Leadership and Ceremonial Arrangements

The event was led by His Highness Prince Adipati Dr. (H.C.) Zahir, S.Kel., PhD, Head of Protocol of the Kutai Mulawarman Kingdom. The Master of Ceremony was His Highness Prince Adipati Matius Padondan, S.Th., M.Si, Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Coordination of the Kutai Mulawarman Kingdom.

The prayer was delivered by His Highness Prince Adipati Prof. Dr. H. Andi Bustam Salam, M.Pd., PhD, Minister of Religious Affairs of the Kutai Mulawarman Kingdom. Remarks were given by His Highness Prince Ery Affandi Yusuf, Minister of the Royal Secretariat.

Cooperation agreements with consortium member companies were signed by Her Highness Princess Novianti, Minister of Trade and Investment of the Kutai Mulawarman Kingdom, who will oversee business operations in East Kalimantan — particularly in the OIKN area — as well as other strategic regions across Indonesia.

Overview of the Nusantara Capital City Area

The Nusantara Capital City Authority (OIKN) divides the IKN area into several key planning zones to support governance, business, and economic growth functions, including:

1. Core Government Center Area (KIPP)
Covering approximately 6,671 hectares, it includes:
– Zone 1A: National Palace, Garuda Palace, Ceremony Plaza, Kusuma Bangsa Park
– Zone 1B: Ministries/agencies offices
– Zone 1C: Mixed-use government area
2. Main Area
– Western IKN: Business center, talent development, and higher education
– Eastern IKN: Business center, hotels, talent development, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions)
3. Planning Area
Includes international service zones, education, healthcare, agribusiness, industry/technology, tourism, and green areas.
4. Supporting Infrastructure
Includes tourism areas, MSME zones, and housing for ministers, civil servants, and construction workers.

The IKN area covers 7 sub-districts and 54 villages/urban villages in Penajam Paser Utara and Kutai Kartanegara Regencies, with supporting areas including Balikpapan, Samarinda, Bontang, and Tenggarong.
