The INDONESIAN (ACEH)– A social initiative to aid flood victims in Aceh was held as part of activities to observe the holy month of Ramadan. Hundreds of disaster-affected children in Central Aceh and Bireuen Regencies received assistance through a humanitarian program organized by the national youth organization.

Titled “Cheerful Ramadan – Synergy of Harmony”, the event was conducted by the Central Executive Board (DPP) of the Indonesian National Youth Committee (KNPI), with direct visits to flood-stricken areas. The program took place on Wednesday (March 4) in Central Aceh and continued on Thursday (March 5, 2026) in Bireuen.

KNPI DPP Chairman Haris Pertama attended the activity in person, accompanied by Aceh KNPI Provincial Board (DPD) Chairman Aulia Rahman, Lampung KNPI DPD Chairman, and other board members. In Central Aceh, the KNPI delegation not only distributed aid but also interacted directly with residents staying at the Kala Segi communal kitchen and temporary shelter (huntara).

“The atmosphere of togetherness was strong as volunteers and residents prepared meals to break their fast together,” Haris stated.

In addition, KNPI donated one cow, which was cooked and shared with residents as a symbol of solidarity in the aftermath of the disaster.

“When we arrived, we saw firsthand how the community, especially children, are striving to stay resilient amid post-disaster conditions. That is why we want this Ramadan to bring joy to them,” he added.

During the activity, KNPI provided assistance to 500 flood-affected children in Central Aceh. The aid was in the form of cash to be used according to each family’s needs. Besides the assistance for children, KNPI also distributed aid from the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), including 1,000 ready-to-eat fish portions and one water tank to support the affected community’s requirements.

“We are providing cash assistance so it can be used based on their needs. We hope this aid can help ease the burden on families going through difficult times,” Haris explained.

Meanwhile, a similar activity was held in Bireuen Regency, where assistance was given to 250 disaster-affected children.

Haris emphasized that the initiative is not just about distributing aid, but also a tangible demonstration of concern from Indonesian youth for communities facing hardship.

He also expressed appreciation to Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto for the government’s attention to disaster-affected communities in Aceh. Furthermore, Haris thanked donors and various parties who contributed to the humanitarian activity.

Previously, Aceh KNPI had organized an iftar gathering in Banda Aceh on Tuesday (March 3), attended by former KNPI chairmen. During that event, assistance was also provided to 100 orphaned children.

Central Aceh Regent Haili Yoga, who was present at the Bireuen activity, expressed gratitude for KNPI’s concern for flood-affected communities.

“We are very thankful for KNPI’s attention. Their presence has brought encouragement to the community as they recover from adversity,” Haili said.
