West Papua Affirms Support for Prabowo–Gibran Administration: Criticism Must Be Data-Driven

PRIME NEWS POST

The INDONESIAN (PAPUA)—Responding to statements by Ubedillah describing the administration of Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka as a “burden to the nation,” we view such remarks as lacking objectivity, constructiveness, and a comprehensive analytical foundation.

It must be emphasized that the current President and Vice President were elected directly by the Indonesian people through a legitimate and constitutional democratic process.

Therefore, any attempt to delegitimize the duly elected national leadership risks undermining democratic values and weakening the foundations of national unity.

We remind the public that public discourse should serve as a platform for healthy and enlightening dialogue, not an arena for judgmental opinions formed without strong evidence.

Disproportionate narratives lacking substance risk becoming counterproductive to national life and creating instability while the government is striving to implement its national development agenda.

From West Papua, we express full support for the direction of national policies, particularly the implementation of the Asta Cita vision championed by the Prabowo–Gibran administration.

We believe that national development requires stability, cross-sector collaboration, and public trust—not premature attacks that potentially weaken national legitimacy and consolidation.

If there is dissatisfaction with government policies, the constitution provides avenues for evaluation through democratic mechanisms, including future general elections. Criticism is indeed an essential part of democracy, but it must be delivered constructively, fact-based, and supported by accurate data—not merely opinions that risk misleading the public.

As an academic, one is expected to uphold intellectual integrity and moral responsibility when expressing views. Statements made without clear basis reflect a decline in critical reasoning and contribute nothing positive to the nation’s development.
