THE INDONESIAN , (Jakarta) — The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has extended fresh support for the advancement of professional sports, youth character development, national defense spirit, sports tourism, sports diplomacy, and enhanced legal professionalism.
This was conveyed by Ferdinand Weimar DJ, Chairman of the Freestyle Boxing Organization (FBO) Indonesia and President of Anak Bangsa Sejati (ABS), following a meeting with DKI Jakarta Governor Dr. Ir. Pramono Anung Wibowo at the City Hall Governor’s Office on Tuesday, September 9, 2026.
Ferdinand stated the discussion covered collaborative opportunities and impactful initiatives designed to benefit residents across Jakarta and Indonesia at large.
He confirmed Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo had pledged full backing for FBO Indonesia’s work, including the development of ABS Law Firm and FBO Law Firm.
“We deeply appreciate Governor Pramono Anung’s support for FBO Indonesia, ABS Law Firm, and FBO Law Firm. To us, this endorsement is not merely backing an organization—it is a vote of confidence in the positive spirit we are building to serve our community and nation,” Ferdinand Weimar DJ said.
Elaborating further, Ferdinand explained FBO Indonesia was established not solely as a combat sports body, but as a platform to nurture character, sportsmanship, discipline, resilience, and devotion to the nation.
Sports, he noted, play a strategic role in cultivating a younger generation that is mentally strong, disciplined, accountable, rule-abiding, and deeply patriotic.
“We view sport as far more than winning or losing. Within it lie discipline, courage, fortitude, respect for rules, sportsmanship, and regard for others. These values align closely with the essence of defending the nation,” he remarked.
“That is why FBO Indonesia seeks to foster character and sportsmanship while nurturing national pride through sport. Patriotism is not confined to traditional forms. Building a generation that is healthy, disciplined, principled, accomplished, and devoted to its country is itself a vital contribution to the nation,” Ferdinand added.
Guided by this vision, FBO Indonesia positions sport as a powerful vehicle to shape resilient Indonesians who engage with fellow citizens and the international community with integrity and grace.
The meeting also addressed tourism strategies—a key priority for the DKI Jakarta administration.
Ferdinand shared that Governor Pramono Anung recognized FBO’s activities as having strong potential to become a major tourism draw, particularly through national and international-caliber sporting events.
“The Governor sees FBO as a genuine tourism asset. This is incredibly meaningful—international freestyle boxing competitions bring athletes, officials, supporters, families, and communities from across the archipelago and the world,” Ferdinand said.
“Sport can become an integral part of the tourism ecosystem. Visitors come not just to compete, but to experience Jakarta—our culture, cuisine, destinations, and potential. That is the profound opportunity we took away from this meeting,” he continued.
This framework, Ferdinand said, enables FBO Indonesia to develop sports tourism as a core component of its international sporting calendar. FBO events are designed to generate widespread economic benefit across sectors including sport, MSMEs, the creative economy, hospitality, transportation, and destination promotion.
“This extends beyond freestyle boxing. Curated well, FBO international events evolve into sporting tourism showcases. Athletes and delegates visit Indonesia, compete, and discover Jakarta and our nation—an immensely positive form of diplomacy,” Ferdinand noted.

A landmark milestone was the successful staging of the international freestyle boxing exhibition “DUEL” in Solo, featuring athletes from Indonesia and Timor-Leste.
The event reinforced FBO Indonesia’s standing as a professional sporting organization defined not only by achievement but by sportsmanship, cross-border friendship, and cultural diplomacy through modern combat sports rooted in national values.

In step with organizational growth, FBO Indonesia is broadening its mandate into the legal sphere through the launch of FBO Law Firm and ABS Law Firm, dedicated to professional advancement and public legal service.
Ferdinand said this expansion is more than diversification—it builds a purpose-driven professional ecosystem.
“Sport builds character; the law upholds justice, certainty, and honor. They operate in distinct fields yet share a core foundation: respect for rules and unwavering integrity,” Ferdinand explained.
ABS Law Firm and FBO Law Firm aim to foster collaboration across legal advocacy, consultation, legal education, and public-focused professional initiatives.
