The INDONESIAN (JAKARTA)– Rifqi Maulana, S.H., Chairman of GARINDRA (Garuda Muda Indonesia Raya), views the appointment of Sudaryono as Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) as a pivotal moment in strengthening Indonesia’s development direction, which centres on enhancing human resource quality. A nation’s future success, he argues, is determined not only by economic growth figures but also by its ability to build a generation that is healthy, intelligent, productive, and globally competitive.
Rifqi noted that Indonesia is now entering a phase of human‑centred development. In this context, the National Nutrition Agency carries strategic importance, as nutritional status underpins education, workforce productivity, innovation, and overall national economic competitiveness.
“We see Mr. Sudaryono’s leadership at the National Nutrition Agency as more than a change of officials—it is a chance to reinforce the nation’s greatest investment: the quality of its people. Any nation aspiring to global economic standing must first guarantee every child’s right to proper nutrition, adequate healthcare, and full opportunity to thrive,” Rifqi stated.
He emphasised that the Free Nutritious Meals Program must be understood as a long‑term development policy, not merely social assistance. If implemented with sound governance, the initiative will deliver cascading benefits: improved public health, reduced stunting rates, better educational outcomes, and strengthened national economic productivity.
Sudaryono’s extensive experience in agriculture provides a strategic foundation to align food and nutrition policies, Rifqi added. He expressed hope that the new leadership will build an integrated ecosystem connecting farmers, livestock breeders, fishermen, cooperatives, micro‑enterprises, and educational institutions in a mutually reinforcing development framework.
“The Free Nutritious Meals Program must go beyond food distribution. It must become a driver of the people’s economy. When supplies are sourced directly from local farmers, livestock from national producers, and supply chains involve regional MSMEs, the state is not only feeding Indonesia’s children—it is also building national economic self‑reliance,” he said.
Success for the National Nutrition Agency, he explained, should be measured through broader indicators: improved human resource quality, revitalised rural economies, strengthened food security, and reduced regional development disparities.
As a youth organisation focused on human capital, equitable investment, inclusive growth, and food security, GARINDRA holds that Golden Indonesia 2045 can only be achieved by addressing the root of development: the quality of its people.
“Golden Indonesia 2045 will not be built on physical infrastructure alone. Far more vital is building human infrastructure. A great nation emerges from a generation that is healthy, well‑educated, possesses leadership character, and drives innovation. We therefore hope that under Mr. Sudaryono’s leadership, the National Nutrition Agency will integrate health, food, education, and economic empowerment into one cohesive, sustainable national development vision,” Rifqi affirmed.
He also stressed that success requires cross‑sector collaboration. Government, universities, youth organisations, the private sector, academics, and communities must work in partnership to ensure policies deliver tangible benefits.
Students, in particular, carry a moral responsibility to drive innovation, research, nutrition education, local food development, and community‑based economic empowerment—ensuring youth are not just beneficiaries but primary agents of change.
