Jakarta – Kaesang Pangarep, Chairman of the Central Leadership Council (DPP) of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), visited the Azziyadah Islamic Boarding School in Duren Sawit, East Jakarta, on Friday afternoon (27/2/2026).
During the visit, Kaesang was accompanied by PSI DPP Daily Chairman Ahmad Ali, PSI DPP Secretary General Raja Juli Antoni, and other members of the DPP leadership.
This activity is part of PSI’s Ramadan Safari series to a number of Islamic boarding schools across Java Island. The delegation was warmly welcomed by the boarding school leadership, kyais (Islamic scholars), and santri (boarding school students) as a form of fellowship and national dialogue between the political party and the boarding school community.
In his speech, the boarding school leader KH Muhajir Zayadi conveyed prayers and great hopes for young leadership.
“Kaesang is still young; he is confident and strong, so he will become a successful person. He is today’s young leader and tomorrow’s leader. May he become president,” said KH Muhajir Zayadi.
This visit is said to be part of PSI’s commitment to strengthening relations with the boarding school community and showing respect to ulama (Islamic scholars), kyais, and religious figures as the nation’s moral pillars.
Young People and New Hope for National Change
Gus Imam, Chairman of the Nusantara Santri Axis, emphasized that the growing trend of young people leading political parties is a sign of positive change in Indonesia’s democracy.
According to him, young leadership brings new energy, courage to take breakthroughs, and closeness to the aspirations of millennials and Gen Z.
“Today’s young people are not just a complement to democracy, but have become key actors in national change. Young leadership is new hope for a more progressive, inclusive, and honest Indonesia,” Gus Imam stressed.
He also emphasized the importance of the santri’s role in the nation’s political and social dynamics.
“Santri must emerge as guardians of values, unifiers of the nation, and drivers of unity. Santri should not merely be spectators of history, but must help shape the nation’s path forward. We want to ensure that public space is filled with soothing narratives, builds optimism, and strengthens brotherhood amid differences.”
Building Polite and Dignified Politics
This Ramadan Safari symbolizes that politics and Islamic boarding schools are not separate entities. Instead, dialogue between the two is essential for building a democracy rooted in moral values, ethics, and national principles.
This momentum is expected to strengthen collaboration between young people, santri, and national leaders in maintaining unity and delivering polite, inclusive, and dignified politics.
With the spirit of Ramadan and togetherness, this fellowship is a concrete step toward a more harmonious, competitive Indonesia that remains steadfast within the framework of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.
