The INDONESIAN (Jakarta)– A profound atmosphere of mourning enveloped the residence of the late Amin Arjoso family on Jalan Amir Hamzah, Menteng, Central Jakarta, following the passing of Dr. Sumarjati Arjoso, S.K.M., a Member of the Advisory Board of the Gerindra Party.
From morning until evening, the funeral home was crowded with mourners who arrived one after another to pay their final respects. Along the street surrounding the residence, hundreds of condolence wreaths from various groups lined the area, serving as expressions of grief and respect for the late figure.
Messages of condolence came from national figures, heads of state institutions, government officials, ministers, members of the legislature, regional heads, political party leaders, community figures, business actors, social organizations, friends, and extended family members.
Notably, two condolence wreaths were sent directly by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, H. Prabowo Subianto. The wreaths were presented respectively under the name of the President of the Republic of Indonesia and under the name of the Chairman of the Central Board of the Gerindra Party, as a form of respect and deep sympathy for the passing of the late figure.
The rows of wreaths lining the funeral home area reflect the wide respect and sorrow felt by various elements of the nation for the late figure and the Arjoso family, who have long been recognized for their contributions to national life.
On the passing of the late figure, Secretary General of the Indonesian Customary Council (MAI), YM. Dato’ M. Rafik Datuk Rajo Kuaso, on behalf of the entire MAI family, also extended his deepest condolences.
“Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. On behalf of the Indonesian Customary Council family, we convey our deepest sorrow over the passing of the late Dr. Sumarjati Arjoso, S.K.M. May Allah SWT accept all her good deeds, forgive all her sins and mistakes, grant comfort in her grave, and place her in the best abode in His presence. To Mr. Azis Arjoso and the entire family, may Allah SWT grant you steadfastness, patience, strength, and sincerity in facing this calamity. Aamiin Ya Rabbal ‘Alamin’,” said Dato’ M. Rafik Datuk Rajo Kuaso at an MAI communication forum, Saturday, (26/6/2026).
Condolences also poured in from Kings, Sultans, and customary leaders belonging to the Indonesian Customary Council Communication Forum. They prayed that the late figure would be granted the best place in the presence of Allah SWT, and that the bereaved family would be given strength both physically and spiritually.
The late figure was known as someone dedicated to social life, community welfare, and national development. The hundreds of wreaths sent by various groups in society served as a symbol of final tribute to her services and devotion.
The funeral procession was held solemnly, attended by family members, friends, community figures, and mourners who came to pay their final respects. After being laid to rest in Jakarta, the late figure was interred at Al Azhar Memorial Garden, East Karawang, West Java, on Saturday, 26 June 2026.
The late Dr. Sumarjati Arjoso was the wife of the late Amin Arjoso, a national figure known for his thoughts and struggle in upholding constitutional values. Her son, Azis Arjoso, is also recognized as one of the founding figures of the Pejuang 45 Extended Family Foundation (YKBP45) and serves as a central board member of the Indonesian Customary Council (MAI).
The entire family of the Indonesian Customary Council prays that all the good deeds of the late figure will be accepted by Allah SWT, that all her sins and mistakes will be forgiven, and that her life will serve as an inspiration and example for future generations to dedicate themselves to the nation, state, and community.
