JABODETABEK – In a warm and communal atmosphere marking Eid al-Fitr 1447 H / 2026, the Ponto-Pontoh extended family, residing in the Jabodetabek area and its surroundings, hosted their annual Halal Bihalal gathering—a tradition rich in family values and cultural preservation.

Held at the residence of one of the family members, the event proceeded solemnly yet warmly, with attendees spanning multiple generations from elders and family leaders to young adults and children.

The Ponto-Pontoh family is known as part of a noble lineage with deep historical roots, having served as a dynasty in the royal governance structure of Bolangitang, North Sulawesi. As such, the Halal Bihalal gathering is not only a platform for fostering social bonds but also a significant moment to nurture collective memory of the family’s history, genealogy, customs, and noble ancestral values.

Beyond the core Eid tradition of seeking mutual forgiveness, the event included light yet meaningful discussions on family development, cultural identity strengthening, and current issues related to their hometown—particularly Bolangitang and the broader North Bolaang Mongondow region.

Iftiqar SA Ponto, a representative of the younger generation, expressed hope that the gathering would evolve beyond a ceremonial tradition to become a space for consolidating ideas and initiatives.

“Through moments like this, we as the younger generation aim to maintain family ties while making tangible contributions to the progress of our ancestral homeland, especially Bolangitang and North Bolaang Mongondow,” he stated.

He also emphasized the importance of intergenerational collaboration in sustaining cultural values while addressing modern challenges, ensuring the Ponto-Pontoh family’s identity remains relevant and impactful in the wider social context.
