The INDONESIAN (Jakarta )— Safrin Sofyan, Chairman of the National Board of the 08 National Unity Movement (GPN 08), affirmed that the Red and White is far more than two colours flying on a flagpole — it is a symbol of struggle, unity, sacrifice, and hope that must be kept alive in everyday life.
According to Safrin Sofyan, the spirit of the Red and White cannot remain confined to slogans or ceremonial occasions; it must be translated into real action that benefits the nation and the state.
“The Red and White is not merely a colour scheme — it carries meaning in every step we take. That meaning must be present in how we work, serve the public, uphold unity, and dedicate ourselves to our nation and country,” Safrin stated.
He explained that the values of the Red and White are embodied in four core principles that form the foundation of national life.
First: Love for the Homeland. Every citizen, he said, should take pride in being part of Indonesia and bear the moral responsibility to protect, nurture, and build the nation through tangible deeds — no matter how small.
“Love for Indonesia does not always require grand gestures. Caring for the environment, respecting the law, working with integrity, and helping others are all genuine expressions of patriotism,” he emphasised.
Second: Unity. Safrin noted that Indonesia — a nation of diverse ethnicities, religions, cultures, and backgrounds — needs a strong spirit of togetherness to preserve its integrity.
“We must honour our differences, build solidarity, and uphold the spirit of mutual cooperation. Unity is Indonesia’s greatest strength in facing the challenges of our time,” he said.
Third: Integrity. Integrity, Safrin said, is a value that every leader and citizen must uphold. Truthfulness in word and deed, and accountability in carrying out entrusted duties, are fundamental to building a more prosperous Indonesia.
“Integrity is not only about what we say — it is about how we act and how we account for every decision we make,” he remarked.
Fourth: Positive Contribution. Safrin called on all sectors of society to keep creating, innovating, and contributing to their communities and the nation.
“Every citizen has the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution. No contribution is too small if it is made with good intentions and brings benefit to others,” he stated.
As Campaign Chairman for President Prabowo Subianto and Chairman of GPN 08, Safrin affirmed that nationalism must be expressed through tangible work that advances national development, strengthens unity, and improves public welfare. He urged all Indonesians to live by the values of the Red and White in daily life.
“The meaning of the Red and White is not meant to be spoken — it is meant to be lived in every decision, every task, every act of service, and every deed for others. From small beginnings comes great change for a better Indonesia,” Safrin concluded.
In closing, Safrin Sofrin called on the public to sustain the spirit of nationalism through real action.
“Indonesia exists not only on maps or in our national anthem — Indonesia lives in the heart of every citizen. Therefore, let us prove our love for the nation through unity, integrity, and positive contributions toward Indonesia’s progress,” he added. (Editor)
