The INDONESIAN — The Central Executive Board of the Indonesian Muslim Students and Youth Alliance (Majelis Pimpinan Pusat Aliansi Mahasiswa Pemuda Islam Indonesia / MPP AMPII) held a peaceful protest in front of the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) office, rejecting the inauguration of Echelon II officials suspected of being involved in transactional practices and position trading.
Field Coordinator Ahmad Baras stated that the alleged transactional practices in the appointment of senior officials within the Ministry undermine the moral and spiritual values that the institution is supposed to uphold.
“It is important for the public to know that there are strong indications of position trading within the Ministry of Religious Affairs. This not only tarnishes the sacred religious values the Ministry represents, but also constitutes a betrayal of the state and the people of Indonesia,” Baras asserted.
He further emphasized the importance of maintaining professionalism and integrity in the appointment process of high-ranking officials.
“Appointments should be based on competence and a clean track record — not transactions. Only then can the Ministry of Religious Affairs operate in a trustworthy, transparent, and credible manner,” he said.
In its statement, AMPII reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the spirit of eradicating corruption, collusion, and nepotism (KKN) within government institutions.
“The practice of position trading is a clear manifestation of KKN that must be eradicated. We urge Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar to revoke the decree appointing these Echelon II officials and to conduct a transparent and professional re-selection process,” Baras concluded.
