The INDONESIAN (Jakarta)– The Nusantara Youth and Student Alliance (GPM‑Nus) has affirmed that law enforcement regarding alleged corruption and money laundering offences must be carried out professionally, objectively, and without exception.
GPM‑Nus Chairman Chrysmon Gultom expressed support for the steps taken by the National Police Anti‑Corruption Task Force (Kortastipidkor) and related authorities in investigating alleged corruption in the coal sector and associated money laundering allegations – a case drawing public attention over reported links to the Attorney General’s Special Crimes Prosecutor, Febriansyah.
According to available information, the case stems from the seizure of substantial evidence by Polda Metro Jaya at a café and several other locations, reported to be of very high value. Around the same time, the residence of Special Crimes Prosecutor Febriansyah was reportedly placed under guard by Indonesian National Armed Forces personnel.
Responding to the situation, Chrysmon Gultom called on all parties to respect the ongoing legal process.
“We urge the Armed Forces to respect the course of law. The law must apply equally to everyone. We also call on the public not to rush to conclusions regarding the legal process involving Special Crimes Prosecutor Febriansyah until a formal ruling or conclusive legal facts are established,” Gultom stated.
He added that every investigation must be allowed to proceed independently, free from pressure or interference from any quarter.
“This represents genuine action by the National Police in uncovering alleged criminal conduct. Therefore, let the legal process run its proper course without any attempt at intervention. All parties must uphold the principle of presumption of innocence and place their trust in law enforcement authorities to act professionally and transparently,” he continued.
GPM‑Nus reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the eradication of corruption and money laundering in Indonesia. Chrysmon Wifandy Gultom expressed hope that all law enforcement bodies will uphold the law fairly, transparently, and accountably, so that public trust in the legal system is preserved.
