The INDONESIAN , (Jakarta)— In commemoration of the International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace, established by the United Nations and observed annually on April 24, the Indonesian Traditional Council (Majelis Adat Indonesia – MAI) emphasized the importance of strengthening multilateralism, dialogue, and diplomacy as the main pillars for maintaining global stability and peace.

This moment serves as a reflection for Indonesia to continue playing an active role in creating a peaceful, just, and civilized global order. This aligns with the mandate of the 1945 Constitution and the values of Pancasila, which place humanity, justice, and world peace as fundamental principles of the nation.

The Secretary-General of MAI, M. Rafik Datuk Rajo Kuaso, stated that Indonesia’s role is not limited to formal state diplomacy but must also be reinforced through cultural approaches based on traditional values and local wisdom.

“Indonesia possesses moral and cultural strength to serve as a global balancer. Peace diplomacy must involve all elements of the nation, including traditional institutions,” he said.

MAI also highlighted ongoing global conflict dynamics in various regions, demonstrating the importance of a multilateral approach over unilateral actions. In this context, MAI calls upon all parties to prioritize dialogue, de-escalate tensions, and promote inclusive diplomacy.

Furthermore, MAI affirmed that Nusantara traditional values such as deliberation (musyawarah), collective work (gotong royong), balance, and harmony represent Indonesia’s strategic contribution to global diplomacy. This culture-based approach is believed to serve as a bridge between nations in building trust and sustainable peace amidst global diversity.

In conclusion, MAI urges the Government of the Republic of Indonesia to continue strengthening its strategic role in international forums while bringing the nation’s cultural identity as a diplomatic strength.
