GMPRI Central Board Holds Rally at Attorney General’s Office, Demands Probe Into Alleged Corruption of Grant Funds and Abuse of Authority in Tangerang Regency

PRIME NEWS POST

JAKARTA — In observance of the National Reform movement and as part of public participation in monitoring state governance, the Central Board of the Indonesian Students and Youth Movement (DPP GMPRI) staged an action to voice public aspirations in front of the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic of Indonesia on 21 May.

Led by members of the DPP GMPRI leadership, the event featured speeches, the delivery of demands, and the submission of a formal report requesting follow-up action regarding several alleged irregularities that the organization believes require attention from law enforcement authorities.

In his statement, DPP GMPRI Chairman Raja Agung Nusantara emphasized that the demonstration reflects the organization’s commitment to promoting transparency, accountability, and stronger law enforcement.

“DPP GMPRI will continue to oversee every process we report in accordance with prevailing legal mechanisms. Public aspirations must be accommodated, and every allegation concerning the use of public funds must be followed up professionally, objectively, and based on available evidence,” Raja Agung Nusantara stated during his address.

DPP GMPRI also expressed appreciation to the Attorney General’s Office for receiving representatives of the group and accepting their submission of documentation and requests.

According to DPP GMPRI, their representatives were received by officials from the Special Crimes Directorate and were informed that the report has been officially accepted and will be processed according to established procedures.

Core Issues Raised

The report submitted during the action covers two main points, based on the organization’s internal investigations, public information, and media reports:

1. Allegations regarding misuse of official emergency vehicles, which are funded through the regional budget. It is alleged that this misuse has caused financial losses to the state and reduced the quality of public services in Tangerang Regency.
2. Concerns surrounding the budget utilization for the construction of several public facilities. DPP GMPRI calls for further legal examination regarding land status, grant mechanisms, administrative transparency, and compliance with regulations governing regional financial management.

DPP GMPRI clarified that these submissions constitute a formal report and request for legal review. The organization affirms that the determination of whether a criminal act has occurred and who may be responsible falls entirely within the authority of law enforcement agencies, based on investigation, inquiry, and legally binding court rulings.

Legal Basis and Public Oversight

In submitting their demands, DPP GMPRI referred to regulations concerning transparency and governance, including:

1. Law No. 14 of 2008 regarding Public Information Disclosure;
2. Laws concerning the eradication of corruption;
3. Law No. 28 of 1999 regarding State Administrators that are Clean and Free from Corruption, Collusion, and Nepotism.

Demands Addressed to the Attorney General’s Office

DPP GMPRI calls on the Attorney General’s Office to:

1. Follow up on the submitted report through proper legal mechanisms;
2. Conduct objective and professional examinations of the parties named in the report;
3. Ensure public access to information in accordance with legal provisions;
4. Uphold the principle of equality before the law without discrimination.

The demonstration proceeded peacefully under the supervision of security personnel.

DPP GMPRI stated it will continue to monitor developments in the case as part of its role in strengthening governance and law enforcement in Indonesia.
