The INDONESIAN (Jakarta)– A strong commitment to lifelong learning has once again been demonstrated by Pangidoan Terbit Ropu Lumbantobing, S.H., a young advocate who is currently continuing his studies in the Master of Law Program at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Katolik Santo Thomas (St. Thomas Catholic University) in Medan.
Having previously achieved an outstanding academic record with a perfect Grade Point Average (GPA) of 4.00, Pangidoan is now advancing to the next stage of his academic journey. He has chosen to specialize in Criminal Law within the Master of Law program, as confirmed in the official notification issued by the Postgraduate Program of the Faculty of Law.
This decision aligns with his commitment as a legal practitioner to continuously deepen his knowledge, enhance his intellectual capacity, and strengthen his understanding of Indonesia’s legal system and the administration of justice.
For Pangidoan, education is not merely about earning an academic degree, but part of a lifelong learning process. He believes that the deeper one’s knowledge, the broader one’s perspective becomes.
On this occasion, Pangidoan shared a guiding principle that motivates him to pursue further education:
“The depth of the ocean and the height of mountains can still be measured, but the depth of knowledge is boundless. This is what fuels my drive to keep studying and expanding my understanding,” he stated on June 15, 2026.
According to him, the increasingly complex challenges in the legal profession require every legal professional to keep learning, broaden their insight, and improve their competence — so they can deliver their best contribution to the community, the nation, and the state.
By choosing Criminal Law as his field of specialization, Pangidoan aims to deepen his understanding of the criminal justice system, legal reforms, public policy, and the latest legal developments relevant to current societal needs.
This academic pursuit also serves as proof that a busy career as an advocate does not stand in the way of further learning. Instead, education and professional practice can go hand in hand as a means of service toward upholding law that is professional, ethical, and just.
“Learning knows no limits of age or profession. As long as opportunities remain, seeking knowledge is a responsibility that must always be upheld,” Pangidoan said.
His academic journey is expected to serve as an inspiration to the younger generation — especially law students and practitioners — to continuously improve their capabilities through education, hard work, discipline, and an unwavering passion for learning.
