Three Former National Nutrition Agency Officials Detained by Attorney General’s Office; FABEM Demands Thorough Investigation into Free Nutritious Meals Program Corruption

PRIME NEWS POST

The INDONESIAN (Jakarta)— The Central Executive Board of the Student Executive Board & Student Senate Alumni Forum (DPP FABEM–SM) has called on the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic of Indonesia to thoroughly investigate alleged corruption in the management of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program, down to its roots. This demand follows the naming of three former leaders of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) as suspects by the investigation team of the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (JAM PIDSUS) on Wednesday (3/6/2026).

The three detained suspects are identified as DH (former Head of BGN), SS (former Deputy Head of BGN for Nutrition Fulfillment Operations), and LP (former Deputy Head of BGN for Organizational Development and Institutional Relations). They are alleged to have been involved in irregularities in the procurement of goods and services, as well as affiliations with foundations partnered with the Food Security and Service System (SPPG), actions that have caused potential state losses amounting to trillions of rupiah.

Zainuddin Arsyad, S.I.P., Chairman of DPP FABEM–SM, stated that the public must oversee the legal process to ensure it does not stop with the naming of suspects. He issued the following firm yet measured statement in Jakarta:

“We appreciate the Attorney General’s Office for naming these three former BGN leaders as suspects. However, this is only the beginning. The root of the problem must be uncovered, including the possibility of masterminds behind this structured and systematic corruption scheme. No party should be protected. FABEM urges the Attorney General’s Office to thoroughly trace the flow of funds amounting to billions of rupiah disbursed daily to foundations affiliated with the suspects, and to examine all parties who interfered in the preparation of the Terms of Reference (KAK) — actions that harmed state finances drawn from the total MBG budget of IDR 85.27 trillion from the state budget in 2025 and IDR 268 trillion in 2026. We also demand transparency in the investigation process and the full recovery of state losses. If necessary, FABEM is ready to oversee this case all the way to court.”

The suspects have been detained for a period of 20 days at the Salemba Detention Center, a unit under the Attorney General’s Office, and at the Salemba Detention Center, a unit under the South Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office.

According to Tody Ardiansyah Prabu, S.H., Vice Chairman of DPP FABEM:

“The action taken by President Prabowo Subianto was firm and timely: he dismissed the Head of BGN and the two Deputy Heads, while the Attorney General’s Office moved swiftly to search the BGN office and detain the agency head, Mr. DH, along with the two deputies, Mr. SS and Mr. LP.

This is essential to uphold the law without exception — ensuring accountability at all levels — and to safeguard this flagship national program so that it is well-managed and accurately targeted, preventing the misuse of public funds allocated in the state budget. Furthermore, this step is necessary to restore public trust in the government’s priority programs and in the leadership of Mr. Prabowo Subianto as President of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.”

“FABEM, as a movement organization comprising alumni of student executive boards and student senate activists, will form a special monitoring team to ensure this case does not stall. We also urge the Attorney General’s Office to investigate the possibility of other perpetrators beyond these three suspects,” concluded Tody Ardiansyah Prabu, S.H., Vice Chairman of DPP FABEM–SM for Legal and Inter-Institutional Affairs.
