Basaruddin Supports Government Regulation No. 39 of 2025: A Progressive Step Toward Legalization and Protection of Community Mining

The INDONESIAN (Mandailing Natal) North Sumatra — The Government of Indonesia has officially issued Government Regulation (PP) No. 39 of 2025, amending PP No. 96 of 2021 concerning Community Mining Regulations. This new regulation marks a significant milestone in providing legal certainty, economic empowerment, and protection for small-scale miners across the country.

One of the figures welcoming this policy is Basaruddin, a gold entrepreneur and philanthropist who also serves as a donor for the Monument of Unity and Struggle in Padangsidimpuan, North Sumatra. During a socialization event for the Community Mining Cooperative held directly in Huta Julu Village, Huta Bargot District, Mandailing Natal Regency, Basaruddin expressed his strong support for the government’s initiative, which he believes truly benefits grassroots miners.

“Government Regulation No. 39 of 2025 is a progressive step forward. It provides a clear legal framework for community miners to operate safely, sustainably, and with full legitimacy. This regulation also opens greater opportunities for prosperity without legal uncertainty,” said Basaruddin during his meeting with miners and local business actors.

As part of his commitment, Basaruddin continues to purchase gold directly from small-scale miners, demonstrating tangible support for the local economy. He emphasized that cooperatives are an effective vehicle to organize community mining systems more professionally and transparently.

Also present at the event was Elhan Zakaria, a young influencer who accompanied the outreach activities. He praised Basaruddin’s initiative to organize small-scale miners through cooperatives as a forward-thinking breakthrough.

“Through cooperatives, community miners can become more independent and better protected. It not only improves their welfare but also strengthens their position in dealing with larger companies,” said Elhan Zakaria.

This initiative is expected to serve as a model of synergy between the government, business actors, and the community in establishing a fair, sustainable, and dignified system for community-based mining in Indonesia.
