THE INDONESIAN — The Board of Patrons of FBO Indonesia, Vice Admiral (Ret.) Wuspo Lukito, emphasized that the establishment of the Freestyle Boxing Organisation (FBO) opens new avenues for the development of sports training branches capable of attracting young people to join and grow into professional combat athletes with strong character, ethics, and high competitiveness.
“From this platform, we are discovering talents like those we see today. They will grow, develop, and rise. FBO has the potential to expand very rapidly because it already has a large fan base, and this can continue to be enhanced in a structured manner,” Lukito said.
He stressed that FBO is not an unregulated sport. All athlete development programs and competitions are conducted under clear regulations, discipline, and strict safety standards, similar to boxing disciplines in general.
“This is not just about throwing punches. There are rules, governance, and a structured development process. Therefore, FBO has strong potential to be developed widely and sustainably,” he added.
Furthermore, Lukito underlined the importance of cross-regional collaboration and multi-stakeholder cooperation, particularly between sports communities, local governments, and young people as the main driving force of the organization.
“The key to development is cooperation—between regions, between governments, and most importantly by involving young people. When youth are given space, they will join, grow, and bring achievements,” Lukito concluded.
In line with this vision, the Freestyle Boxing Organisation (FBO) Indonesia officially held its Opening Ceremony in a festive and high-spirited atmosphere in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on Saturday, December 13, 2025. The event also marked the official founding day of FBO Indonesia and the inauguration of the organization’s central leadership.
The ceremony was attended by various national figures, members of the Board of Patrons, Board of Advisors, Board of Trustees, as well as sports stakeholders from across the country. The presence of accomplished boxing athletes, including a heavyweight boxing champion, further added to the grandeur and excitement of the event.
On the same occasion, Admiral Ahmad Diya GNI, Senior Flag Officer Dr. Ir. Ahmad Jamuruddin, MAP, conveyed his congratulations on the anniversary of FBO Indonesia, commemorated on December 13, 2025, while also expressing appreciation for the formation of the organization’s central management.
“I extend my congratulations on the anniversary of Freestyle Boxing Organisation Indonesia. Congratulations and success on the establishment of its central leadership. May this organization become a professional, integrity-driven, and sustainable platform for nurturing talented and high-character Freestyle Boxing athletes capable of competing at both national and international levels,” he stated.
He added that the presence of FBO is expected not only to produce sporting achievements, but also to contribute positively to national unity and the advancement of Indonesia.
“Continue to instill the values of sportsmanship, discipline, and fighting spirit in every development process. Keep the spirit alive, FBO Indonesia. May you thrive and achieve great success,” he said.
Meanwhile, FBO Indonesia Chairman Ferdinand Weimar DJ reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to building FBO in a professional, structured, and sustainable manner, expressing optimism that it will gain official recognition from the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) and bring Indonesian athletes to compete on the international stage.
“FBO is present as a unifying movement for the nation, dedicated to developing young martial arts athletes who are professional, disciplined, and achievement-oriented,” Ferdinand emphasized.
With strong support from national figures, a solid organizational structure, and high enthusiasm from the sports community, FBO Indonesia is believed to emerge as a new force within the national sports ecosystem and the global Freestyle Boxing arena.
