The INDONESIAN (Jakarta)– The Central Executive Board (DPP) of the Indonesian Students and Youth Movement (Gerakan Mahasiswa dan Pemuda Republik Indonesia/GMPRI) has officially submitted demands to the Chairman of the Democratic Party’s Central Executive Board, (Ret.) TNI Dr. Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, M.Sc., M.P.A., M.A., to immediately take firm action against two members of the Tangerang Regency Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) from the Democratic Party Faction who are allegedly involved in Corruption Crimes (Tindak Pidana Korupsi/TIPIKOR) related to the management of the “Pokok Pikiran” (POKIR) Fund.
The two individuals in question are:
1. Ms. Nonce Tendhean, S.H., Member of Commission IV of the Tangerang Regency DPRD;
2. Ms. Aida Hubaedah, S.E., M.M., Member of Commission II of the Tangerang Regency DPRD.
GMPRI Central Executive Board Chairman Raja Agung Nusantara stated in a press release that this step reflects the moral responsibility of the student and youth movement to uphold the integrity of democracy and ensure clean and accountable governance.
“We are not in a position to judge. However, as a social control element, we have a moral obligation to voice public concerns over the alleged misuse of the POKIR Fund, which belongs to the people. If misuse is proven to have occurred, this would be a betrayal of the public trust,” emphasized Raja Agung Nusantara (February 11).
According to him, the POKIR Fund is an instrument for people’s aspirations that should be used for development and community welfare purposes, not for personal or group interests. Alleged misuse of the fund has caused public unrest and damaged community trust in both legislative institutions and political parties.
GMPRI Central Executive Board firmly demands that the Democratic Party’s Central Executive Board:
1. Immediately summon, clarify, and conduct an internal investigation into the two cadres regarding the alleged POKIR Fund corruption;
2. Impose organizational sanctions in accordance with the party’s Articles of Association and Bylaws (AD/ART) and regulations, including revocation of Party Membership Cards (Kartu Tanda Anggota/KTA) if violations are proven;
3. Fully encourage and support law enforcement processes by authorities without interference;
4. Issue an official party stance to the public as a form of moral and political accountability.
Raja Agung Nusantara added that the Democratic Party Central Executive Board’s firmness in addressing this issue will be a true test of the party’s commitment to the anti-corruption agenda.
“Political parties are pillars of democracy. When cadres are alleged to have committed violations, transparency and the courage to take action are forms of respect for the law and the people. The party must not be perceived as protecting individuals who are alleged to have damaged public trust,” he said.
GMPRI has also sent copies of the report to several parties, including the Democratic Party’s Provincial and Regional Executive Boards (DPD and DPC), the Tangerang Regency DPRD Chairman, the Tangerang Regent, the Supreme Audit Board (BPK), the Financial Services Authority (OJK), the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic of Indonesia, and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), as a sign of seriousness in overseeing this matter.
As a student and youth organization committed to values of honesty, transparency, and accountability, GMPRI stated that it will continue to oversee the process until completion.
“We stand at the forefront to ensure no compromise is made with corruption in any form. The nation’s integrity must not be negotiated,” concluded Raja Agung Nusantara.
